Metal Earth Fascinations MMS093-502513, Hubble Telescope, Construction Toy, 1 Metal Board, 14 Years and Up

Once completed this is a beautiful representation of the awesome Hubble telescope. A great gift for model makers and astronomers. The model is quite challenging to make as there are a number of parts that require careful bending into curved shapes (the model is supplied flat). There are a also a number of very small parts. As such I would recommend using a tray or bowl to hold pieces when cutting them out. I would also recommend that when making this or any other metal earth model, that you wear nitrile gloves to prevent finger prints and smears transferring onto the metal.

A nice small model. A thin sheet metal version of plastic model kits. However the instructions are not very clear in places.Some of the parts are very small and difficult to handle. You also need to be very careful in folding the metal. If you over work the metal , the parts will break at the folding seam. It takes a lot of care in forming the metal into a curve as often it ill need to line up and fit to other parts. Some of the parts do not fit well together. All together a challenge to build, but worth it in the end. A good magnifying glass will be of good help.

It is a shame this product is so small. Unfortunately, this is a very small and detailed model, meaning that it needs to be bent into place over a lot of small angles. Due to this nature (and being honest unclear instructions as to which way the sheet metal needs to be bent, if you misshape the pieces only once and try to correct it, the metals simply snaps in two. On one piece here and there this is correctable and can be held in place by other pieces, but for me, it happened on too many occasions and meant the model would not properly assemble and sadly had to be chucked away, despite looking so nice. Definitely not one for ammeters or people in it for the finished product.

Looks great and was very easy to build. Was delivered very quickly too.

This is a great little stocking filler / Gift for anyone who likes their space or astronomy. Although initially confusing at first the instructions make perfect sense after you attach the first piece. Pieces are very small so make sure to build this on a large flat surface. I recommend to "twist" the tabs not bend them as it makes for a tighter fit.

Decent model although is a bit wobbly on the stand the thin pieces make certain part’s difficult and sometimes feels like you need a third hand but the complete model is great. Make sure you have the right tools , patience, a magnifying glass and steady hand

This was a fun project to do. I think it would be nice to be a little bigger. Take your time in building this model, it wasn't hard to follow the directions. I did have to go back a couple of times to add a forgotten piece. One tab broke off from being bent over, after straitening it, it fell off, but a small dab of super glue helped. Only needed to use glue twice. Watch your twist and bending of tabs. My tools were fine needle nose pliers, hobby scissors. Tweezers did not work for me. The shuttle - purchased many years ago, it is standard die cast model, definately not model scale, but adds to the model to make it more authentic.

EXTREME caution when buying these types of sets. You need to be very aware of how these work. I managed to get it together with a pair of tweezers and nail clippers. It looks spectacular when done, but so many of the reviews claim these are too difficult or break easily. That should be common sense since the whole idea behind these are bending thin sheet metal into precise shapes, but I guess a lot of people are missing that common sense. If you’ve done one of these before, I highly recommend this one! It was my first metal earth kit and I went into it knowing it would be difficult, but I powered through it and then got about 4-5 more of the space themed ones. These kits look awesome and while they are definitely fragile, they look like high-quality strong desk decorations.
