Fit like a glove
My son is on a competitive high school swim team. Many don’t know that you should have a compression type fit. My son is a very slim 5’8 and 116lbs. The size 24 fit him perfectly! He hasn’t swam in them yet but he says they’re a good thick quality. We are hoping they’ll last him the rest of the season as the other brands we have bought have not lasted very long. We have heard great things about TYR brand so we are optimistic.

Run tight
Got this swimsuit for my skinny 9-year old. Good quality, but super tight, so be careful picking a size, might need to size up. Expensive.

Great quality, but TIGHT!
We have several TYR products in our family including shorts and goggles, and they are all excellent quality. These swim shorts are no exception; they are expertly constructed and have a drawstring to get a perfect fit. These are designed to be tight and minimize drag in the water. If your kid swims competitively and you're looking for performance swimwear then these are top quality trunks. If you're looking for a more relaxed fit for more casual swimming then you'll want to look for a different style.I ordered a size 24 for my 9 year old son based on measuring his waist, and that should equate to a size M (8/10) which is his usual size, but he can barely squeeze into these so I would definitely size up if your child is between sizes. In retrospect I would have ordered the L.

Run really small -- use the sizing chart with the waist sizes for best fit
I'm going to be honest and say that I normally order clothes for my children based on the 2,4,6,8,10,12 and order one size up for their age. So for my 8 year old I would order a size 10. This usually works for most clothes but I have found that it doesn't always work so for this one I actually measured. So I measured my 8 year old and I ordered a size 24 which is M (8/10) and this was so small he couldn't even put it on. I then put it on my 7 year old and it is still barely fitting her.I was so confused why these are so small. So I pulled out the tape measure and actually measured their waist right above the hip bone (and not the narrowest part as I had done before ordering) and sure enough my 7 year old's waist is 25" which is at the upper limit for the size 24 M(8/10).Therefore to get a true fit for your child, make sure you take the waist measurement right at the top of the hips (not the narrowest part of the waist). When I initially took the measurements it was at the narrowest part which threw me off. I wish they had some kind of sizing chart in the pictures to show what measurement they are doing like some other clothing items.TYR Boys' Durafast Elite Jammer Swimsuit
