This light is AMAZING!!! I converted an existing metal halide security light by removing the ballast and replacing the medium base socket with a mogul base socket (Leviton 8756-J) Instead of using the existing photocell, I upgraded to a photocell that is compatible with LED bulb. Apparently LED lights do not work well with photocells design for mercury vapor, metal halide, and similar lamps. The light output of this bulb is outstanding. It is WAY BRIGHTER and a much whiter light than the 100 watt metal halide setup that I replaced. And it uses only 80 watts of power. With no ballast to ever replace, a bulb that lasts substantially longer, while using less power, it's a win, win, win!!!

Extremely bright light. Not quite the same clearance as an incandescent, measure to make sure you don't need a socket extender.

The bulb was great for about a year until it quit working. I took the fixture apart to find that the bulb had literally fallen apart inside a sealed fixture on the outside of my garage. The bulb description when I bought it on amazon stated it is approved for enclosed fixtures. Its supposed to have a 5 year warranty and after contacting the seller through amazon a moth ago I've gotten no response. so there's $80.00 waisted. I'd advise anyone to not buy one of these!

Great bulky LED's. So far so good and I like the fact that they just go on instantly, no need to wait like the old ones.
