Snark SN-1X Clip-On Chromatic Tuner

I have several of the earlier versions of the Snark, having been a fan since their inception. This new version is a much brighter and clearer screen than previous ones and works faster too. The hz button works fine and the reading is clear although relatively small on the main screen. Like the Peterson tuners the hz display is about getting very fine tuning, however fans of the strobe tuning on those won’t have the same visual cues. The Snark is good enough to get my Classicals and Electrics easily and quickly in tune. The instructions do say do not put it on ANY Gibson guitar and nitrocellulose finishes, the previous reviewer was right about that. Older versions of the Snark had similar warnings but not about Gibson specifically. I did notice some minor pressure marks on two French polished guitars but I did leave the old Snark tuner in situ for long periods and the marks were easily polished out. I had no issues on Ibanez guitars at all. This new tuner will sit on a Cordoba dolce headstock most of the time and so far no marks but it’s only been on a couple of days. I didn’t know whether the Gibson thing might have been a bit of a poke at Gibson - The Gibson’s I have owned and played weren’t that great with intonation etc.. The odd pressure marks came off easily with Mr.Sheen (natural) and microfibre cloth. For the cost of around £20.00 this is the best value clip on tuner there is. An update in Nov 2020. Still the best and have come done to £14.99. I now have a third and they function perfectly and have NO issues with marks on the headstocks other than my comments in 2018.

Brilliant little tuner. I use it on my violin after pondering the variety of Snark versions and other tuners. The clip grabs the scroll securely, and you can angle the display such that you can easily see it when on your shoulder; good for checking your tuning. Although I tend to do the tuning with it sat in my lap and plucking. Of all the Snark models, which I found a bit confusing (which one's would work with violin? which ones had a mic? metronome?) I went for this one due to the improved and quicker processor. I don't know what the speed of the other tuners is having never used them but this is quick at displaying the note. I thought the lack of mic might be a downside but it really hasn't been a problem so far - it works so well clipped on. The metronome is a bit of a gimick. I can't see mself using it really. It's just a flashy heart on the display with no audio noise. It's never going to replace a proper tick tick metronome.

This is my second Snark tuner, an HZ Super Tight. As with my last one ( a Super Tight) bought Around 3 years ago, the tuning is accurate, simple, speedy and so much better than the other tuners, both clip on and chromatic, that I’ve owned. But I particularly wanted to acknowledge the outstanding service delivered by Snark. On a recent trip with my guitar, I found that the clip had broken whilst stored in my case. I ordered a replacement but thought I would see if I could obtain a new clip from Snark. They kindly sent me a replacement FOC, from USA to UK. Great service! And tremendous tuners!

This tuner arrives in a tiny box and comes with a bag, some instructions, and a hertz guide. The tuner feels well built and clips onto the headstock with ease. In use it occasionally misses a string being plucked or takes a while to register the note, but overall seems very accurate. Although no headstock tuner will ever be as quick or accurate as an inline one. The display is bright and easy to read and can be angled anywhere, so whether you like to clip this on the front, back, top or bottom you should be able to see it clearly. The tuner has a hertz setting, where you can tune to a specific hertz. I havent used this feature in anger but have played around with it and it works smoothly. I definitely would recommend this to anyone who asks, who wants a cheap, easy to use, accurate and portable tuner.

There are already lengthy reviews against this tuner so I'll just say it's very nice. Tested against another tuner and it's bang on - unless they're both out! Not the one shown in the current image used by Amazon but similar. The LCD screen is bright and easy to read. The body is a very aesthetically pleasing 'electric blue'. Clamps on tightly and operates well. Flexible arm and ball joint allow positioning for comfortable reading. A fast and efficient tuner. Comes well packaged/presented with instructions if required. There's a reason Snark has sold millions of tuners. I think as long as you look after it, it will look after you. Good buy.

Excellent tool! Third one I've owned.

I wanted to try this as my previous tuner didn’t work with my banjo and caused me to twang a couple of strings off - as did app tuners on my mobile phone. I can say I have not been disappointed and this bit of kit helps me tune my banjo fast and easily without issue. It’s always accurate for me and I would definitely recommend this to players of banjos and any other instruments. You can’t go wrong with it!

I have a Snark "Supertight" which features hz tuning and chromatic tuning other than concert if you like. I never use these. Before playing, I clip it on the headstock of my Gibson acoustic, tune and then remove the tuner so as not to damage the guitar's finish (how much does that matter, really? but I take it off). In the distant past I've used Korg, Boss etc but I generally tune by ear to a favourite known record. This tuner is less hassle and of course I can tune anywhere. We'll have to see about battery life and replacement but my use of it is very brief then I turn it off. I can't answer for the fancy stuff, I have the attention span of a gnat but it does come with instructions for all that.

Excelente afinador, el material es bueno pero da la impresión de que con un buen golpe se puede romper, fuera de eso cumple su función, también tiene metrónomo y puedes configurarlo para afinar tu instrumento en diferentes frecuencias.

Mucho mejor de lo que se ve en la fotos, de muy buena calidad y material, se ve muy bien en mi guitarra acústica Ibanez

It does what a tuner does, what else can you ask for? For me that's the metronome I was supposed to get on the tuner as a feature, but it's fine.

I love this tuner, simple, accurate and very reasonable, great battery life and quality would buy again
