Pilot thinks this pen deserves a metal-barrel frixion cartridge (included). I'm surprised it's not a synergy-tip cartridge, given the price of the pen, but the included cartridge is certainly a high-quality one.Still, my favorite feature is the translucent barrel, because it enables me to discern the color of the cartridge within — a benefit that is *not* on display with its default metal (opaque) cartridge!Since I do use multiple colored inks, I could see making repeat purchases of this pen, just to have the ability to run any combo of ink colors without having to guess or memorize which color is in which pen.(The barrel is not entirely transparent, so it's not as helpful as the specialty "clear 0.38 slim" frixion barrels, which can be held up to the light to see whether the ink is actually depleted. But I've found that the 038 slim cartridges really don't last long. And although frixion makes 20 colors of 038 ink, the point is too fine for some purposes, refills are expensive, and I'm not aware of any decent off-brand refills.)For this pen, you can get compatible frixion refills in a few basic colors (some with synergy tips), and you can also find much cheaper refills in bulk -- for example by Vanstek. Vanstek refills come in a much wider palette of colors than frixion offers (for this size), and are surprisingly comparable in quality for writing on regular paper. However, the Vanstek refills don't do as well on rocketbook-style smooth surfaces, as shown in photo.

Love this pen. I just recently discovered the Frixion line of pens and so far I'm really liking the way they write. I know "nice & smooth" might not mean much, but it's just simply nice & smooth when I write with these pens. My goto has been the P****l Alloy Gel Ink pens because of the way they write and the weight on the pens. I wish Frixion will come out with a heavier pen soon.I read and saw that this is a 0.5mm tip pen and it came as described. A finer tip than the 0.7mm. I don't understand why people give a low star count because they don't like a particular feature when it's clearly stated in the item item and in the description. At least I don't think that's how the reviews are supposed to work. I'm giving this pen 5 stars because the pen that I received fit the description that is provided (btw, the refill really is the new metal bodied ones from Japan) plus the quality is better than expected.

Favorite frixion version

I've hardly used it and it is out of ink already.

The media could not be loaded.  The pen is nice, if you like really fine point and dont push hard you will like it. If your like me, where I like medium point pens mainly and I notice I do write hard (video), then this pen is not for you. Not my type.

I love these pens to begin with. But, this one is so beautiful. A fantastic color! I use it for everything! I even put a name sticker on it so no one steals it at work! My favorite pen!

No skipping ink erases easily

There is a distinct difference in the color. The black is closer to black than the grey-ish quality of the one before.
