Absolutely the best knife sharpener for the money
This knife sharpener is by far the best I have used. Setting it up for the first time takes a little time, but once set, its very easy to use, is pretty sturdy, and produces consistently reliable results. I have used this sharpener on every knife I own (including kitchen knives and pocket knives) and it sure beats using a set of water stones. While water stones produce ultra fine edges, getting the angle right takes a lot of practice and patience which I am unwilling to spend the energy on when there is a better solution to the problem. This knife sharpener comes with a wide range of corundum sharpening stones, but I find it works best with the diamond stones (also sold by Ruixin Pro). I clamp the blade into the jaws, set the angle of the stone using a carpentry protractor, and in a couple of minutes, my knife is sharp enough to cut through paper without any force. Even a fully dulled knife can be brought back to factory (or even higher) sharpness in under 5 minutes. This knife sharpener is lightning fast, and when I examine the edge of the blade head on, it is perfectly centered. I have used water stones (and still use them for my chisels and plane blades), but have never been able to get a centered edge on a double beveled blade. So as you can imagine, I am extremely satisfied with my purchase.

Works just as expected
I read the other review and am not sure why the disappointment overall. The stones need water and don't seem like they'd last long and also need adjustment during sharpening. Rubber grips hold the knife well enough and it didn't budge while sharpening. Those things seem like a given going into this system (especially compared to the price of other systems!)The pros are that it does what we want it to. If you sharpen by hand you know the worry of getting the angles the same on each side. This holds your angle (I won't say perfectly) but extremely well to whatever you set it at. I read someone recommend the geared angle setter, so splurged on that (~$25).User experience:I did my griptilian (as you can see in the photos) which has s30v steel and it turned out awesome. I used the free ridgid app for angle finding. I had to adjust the stones periodically during strokes to keep them in place. They also needed water for cleaning and rehydration during sharpening too.I had to remove a small nick in the edge so started with #400 and worked my way up too the #1500 and also used my strop afterwards. The edge feels amazingly sharp and the width is very consistent overall! The sharpener did a great job.Upgrades/accessories:Been watching some YT videos on knife sharpening and will prob get the extra stones with the #5000 and #10000 (plus strop!) set ($19) on Amazon, for that super fine edge!I have a set of those plastic eye glass loupe and use a 10# to check my edge periodically. They have a built in led light so make it easy (just pinch your fingers near the edge to reduce glare!)Improvements:To help with the stone falling out there needs to be a screw through the aluminum holding bar at the end closest to you to keep the spring tension from pushing the plastic handle fitting back. Also bending the flat metal tab that the stone pushes against to a u shape might hold the stone in better. Maybe even adding a small sheet metal u shaped tab at the top of the holder would keep it from adjusting around as well.Overall I'd say this tool has done what I expected it to do. If you didn't see how to make it work the first time take a closer look since it can be used fairly easily to get a consistent edge on your knife. Take your time and readjust the stones after a few strokes to keep the stone from falling out. Clean them in water and rehydrate as necessary. This sharpener is cheap and holds the angle very well!

Great knife sharpening setup
In doing my research on knife sharpening setups, I found this one to be the most bang for my buck so I decided to go with it. I read many reviews and was aware that the stones could fall out and break if the user wasn’t careful when installing or removing them. That aside I’ve been very happy with this setup, and I’ve sharpened every smooth blade in our house.A couple notes:The water stones are quite fragile, so do not drop them, they will break if you do (I’ve proved that, but that’s my fault not the manufacturer). The base can loosen a bit over extended use. But that’s an easy fix, just snug it back down. The rubber sleeves that are on the blade clamps are useless, they either need to be glued in place or thrown away. I tossed mine and used some painters tape to protect the blade. Easy.Overall very satisfied with this product. Remember, you get what you pay for. This is a $50 setup, not a $1000 setup.

Not worth buying
Thought this was going to be a decent product in comparison to some of the high dollar knife sharpeners out there that are similar. This product doesn’t have straight forward directions just pictures of the assembled product. The piece that holds the stones does not keep them tight and they will fall off if you are not careful. That’s what I get I guess for being frugal. Do not buy!!!!

Satisfied
Unit itself is good. The quality of the stones not so much. Will be on the search for higher quality stones. Overall does what it claims to do.

A Beginner's Friend
I've recently dove into the world of adult knives where I no longer buy knives from Ikea. I have started with a Misen knife that was good for me but does require the occasional sharpening. One thing I quickly realize is how technical it can get. I bought the whetstones and I can't get it to be as sharp as how my friend makes my knife. I can't seem to get the angle right. Here's where this sharpener comes in.Pros:-Compact and easy to use-Built-in angle makes sure the knife is sharpened correctlyCons:-You might be judged by your knife enthusiast friends for not using a real whetstone blockOverall, my knives are now as sharp as how my friend sharpens them with the whetstone block. I guess it's time to give the blocks away.
