Q: Why does this cost nearly as much as the shaver? It's ridiculous!

To put things into perspective, the foil replacement kit for the Panasonic Arc 5 costs $70; approximately 50% the cost of the shaver. Of course, this Wahl replacement is more like 60% the cost of the shaver, but that brings us into the topic of 'supply and demand' and other aspects of advanced economics. While I am in no way defending this practice, it is also in no way unique to this razor, or even to the electric razor industry. - There are several lines of printers for which the replacement ink cartridges cost much more than the original printer. - The soda (pop, cola, coke, whatever you call it) served in most restaurants has between 3000-4000% markup. - Ever notice the prices for food in a movie theater or theme park? In short, this is how many industries make their profits. We can argue all we want about how much profit is enough profit (or too much profit), but the fact remains that economics is a complicated balance of worth vs perceived value. The important thing to remember is that the initial cost of an electric razor is a drop in the bucket compared with the ensuing maintenance charges no matter which razor one chooses. Once one becomes reconciled to that notion, the reduced price of regular replacement parts afforded by purchasing a less expensive razor should be somewhat comforting. ... or not. ;)

Q: Why is this called "Life proof" when you have to buy new ones ? Life Proof means it should be replaced by warranty for as long as you own it.........

I totally agree because it’s cheaper to buy a new razor than replace the parts!! I did find out using it as a wet razor it has lasted much longer

The yellow Wahl razor, if you are ordering from Amazon, shows the Wahl replacement microscreen head and the blades there where the razor is shown for sale. So you can order them separately!

I have used this shaver for years and it just keeps on doing the job. The shaving heads wear out but Amazon is quick to fill my order and I'm back to being clean and slick!

Exact fit

My blades and shaver screen were wearing out. Holes in the screen and dull blades. That was my shaver. This kit fit my cordless shaver perfectly. A new screen cover and new blades go me up and running quickly. As with any shaver, cleaning and lubing the blades are necessary. Also cleaning off the screen are important to make the parts last. If you want a matching cover make sure you order the correct one. Mine is an orange one.
