And it also comes with a durable plastic protection case (which surrounds the robust ALUMINUM case).It holds a lot of data and it is fast, both in reading as well as writing.I said I am 100% pleased with it and the following statement ought to prove that:I just bought my SECOND one. I received my first one on April 24, 2024 and it's still going strong.I needed another portable SSD and I didn't even consider any other. I just bought this second one and it is identical to the first one.Even the price has stayed the same: $89.99. I haven’t been using it long but I was immediately impressed by how small and lightweight the drive is. It is even more compact than I was expecting and in addition to the case which prevents slipping it also has rubber runners on the bottom that keep it secure as well. It’s so lightweight and the cords that come with it are so sturdy that initially the cord was enough to lift it off of the desk! Additionally, the speed is excellent and despite using it for hosting videos I am editing it only heated up very slightly. I’m sure with heavier use it will be more noticeable but I spent a solid hour editing and it was barely warm. Overall the drive seems to be quite well made and the cords that come with it definitely are. I also like that it comes with a double usbc and a usb to usbc cord. A great product!

UPDATE 2. To clarify my speed results, I don't suggest that the X31 SSD was the speed-limiting factor. It was how fast the files were copied from my 8 year-old Windows 10 computer. In any case, it was faster than any previous transfer from my old computer!UPDATE. Anecdotal file copying time: I copied the My Pictures folder in Windows with 48.2 GB of images. It took about 7 minutes and the external drive didn't get noticeably warm.I bought this simply as an external drive. Sleek, compact and it works. Simply plug it in. Totally empty, no programs, no bloatware. I didn't measure speed, but it is fast. There is software at the website, but I didn't need or try any. Nicely packaged, this device looks and feels high-end.
