In the Ditch (Penguin Modern Classics)

Great story of West African emigrant life in 1960s London
I read "In the Ditch" years ago in my early 20s and loved it. I still do. Its a great story told from an African woman's point of view of being single with 5 kids in 1960s north London. The camaraderie of life with other white working class women who also lived in "the ditch" is full of humour and support. It is a tragedy that Buchi Emecheta did not receive the acclaim she deserved whilst alive. This novel would have made a great screenplay or television drama in the same way "Small Island" by Andrea Levy was equally great!
