I build a lot of things out of rigid foam panels. When I’m building big stuff, like the roof of my popup camper, then I need to strengthen the joints between panel pieces. These rods work great for this. I cut them in half and this allows me to add strength to a 6.5’ wide joint. There are a lot of uses for items such as this and I usually keep a number of different types of rods onhand, including aluminum and carbon-fiber.5 stars.Note: I have been an Amazon customer for almost 20 years. I write all of my reviews to reflect my personal observations and opinions on a product. It matters not if I have purchased the item myself or if it was provided to me for review. My goal is to provide other potential customers as much real-world knowledge as possible to make an informed decision. In some cases I will return to my review in 6 months or less to see if I should alter my original observations. In no case will the cost of a product influence my opinions at all. In addition, I will try to include multiple images and or videos on each product, if practical.

Nice aluminum rods, but that +/- 0.2 mm really made a difference. I bought them to be used with some other 6mm parts like pulleys, etc. and the extra diameter over the 6mm made them unusable. Nothing could fit on them, so I'll try to find some different 6mm that actually match that size. I wish they had been more to the -0.2mm side, at least in that way they would have worked by being smaller than the holes of the other parts. But being larger, the rods could not fit into any real 6mm hole. In my case, I had to return them. If you don't need them to be precisely 6mm and you just want some rods for other purpose, they can be ok.

I am not a machinist, by any stretch, I'm just a hobbiest who makes things. If you're the same, I think you'll be more than happy with this rods which are smooth and straight and remarkably consistent.I would have given this 5 stars, but there are two things that the listing claims that aren't true.First, these are not 1/4" rods - they are 6mm. I measured several of them with calipers and got 0.2365" inches +/- 0.0005" sometimes a little more. That's not 1/4" - but it is pretty much exactly 6mm. I also happen to have some 6mm steel rods and these are the same exact size. I don't care that they are metric (I prefer it) what I care is that they aren't correctly described. If I relied on the specs and milled out 1/4" holes, these would fit loosely.Second, the listing says the ends are smooth saw cuts and without burrs. The picture I took says otherwise. The burr is very small and probably better than anything I will do if I but this to length. But don't claim things that you can't back up with the product.
