Q: What is the minimum and maximum water depth for the solar powered water pump to operate？

The minimum water depth for this solar water pump for pond is 3 inches as the water has to cover the top of the pump body but not the sprayer, the sprayer should stick out of the water by some amount; The overall height of the pump with the sprayer assembled is approximately 16.5 inches tall, so 16 inches is the maximum water depth. If your pond depth exceeds the operating maximum water depth, you can put a flat/square stone or something in the pond and put the pump on top of it. So that your pump nozzles can reach out of the water level.

Q: Does the whole solar panel need to have direct sunlight to make the solar powered water pump for pond normal working?

Yes. When it’s cloudy or the sun is covered temporarily the pumps slows/stops. It doesn’t work on cloudy rainy days really at all. But when the sun is out it works like a champ.
