Great spokeshave
Okay for the price, awesome. I almost made my own until I saw this for less than $10 U.S.It is a little hard to adjust to the perfect height. I tested it out on a switching grain Purple Heart. If you know wood, you know this is a hard wood. With the grain it was wonderful right out of the box. A soft wood would shave like butter. I have readjusted this thing about 20 times. I keep getting too deep, or not touching. This is my issue, I am just stating how much I have worked to dial it in. Each wood is different also, with that said a softer wood is probably going to shave differently.4 stars because of my struggles to set the blade depth easily. I am happy with the factory edge, it was sharper than I expected. But I don’t do factory edges, I am going to hone it to my standards and give it another go. I will probably come back and give this 5 stars once I am finished. A sharp edge will change the amount that it digs into the wood vs how much is shaved off the wood.Recommended, will buy again. (If needed)

Not a gol-durn thing wrong with this here spokeshave thingy!
I was slightly put off by the reviews, but I noticed that the exact same item is listed numerous times on Amazon and some of the listings have just the most jim-dandy reviews.Because of the reviews, I decided to replace the set-screws with slightly better hardware (both are 5mm). I then did a quick eyeball adjustment and shaved a mighty purty little curl of Chinese Handlewood. Will be a might better after a stone and a hone, but there's nothing inherently bad about this spokeshave - Not a thing worth whining about.Works jest fine, Cletus!

Good for starting out, bad for longevity
Some products you get what you pay for, others surprise you. This one, in my experience, is of the latter. I picked up this tool for a few canoe paddles I carved out for friends in the past year and the tool worked great. Easily adjustable, and worked like a charm once it was properly sharpened. However, the materials began to show their true colors about a month in when some of the metals started to deform. Fast forward about 6 months, and the soft brass of the tensioning screw on the hold down plate (large reddish triangular plate seen in the stock photos) was completely work down, making it impossible to achieve a decent level of tension to hold the blade in place. More so, when I attempted to swap it out with a stainless screw, the brass one sheared off in the plate and making this serviceable tool a new paperweight on the bench. Being soft brass I can likely repair it with a bit of time and a thread tap. But would it be worth the time?Does it work? Yes. Is it a cheap tool? Yes. But considering the cost and use case, it might be worth considering before jumping head first into a much more expensive spokeshave. This might be a useful tool around the shop to learn on or perhaps have around for those few and far between uses that call for it. But if you are going to be carving rounded edges (or in my case canoe paddles) by hand much more frequently it may be worth the investment to pick up a more refined variant of this tool.

Solidly built and feels sturdy.
I've seen these spokeshaves advertised for years but never thought I would need one. These work very well on inside and outside corner and edge shaving.

Seriously dull
Not sure why there are so many good reviews on here. The quality must have really gone down hill. The size and shape are what I needed but I will be looking for a replacement blade for sure. The blade on this is amazingly dull and the one I have received couldn't even begin to do what the pictures show. Very misleading.

Great value
After you clean up the sole with some sand paper this spokeshave works quite well. The blade is pretty easy to adjust and the blade is reasonably sharp and easy to sharpen. It is sturdy and for the money, a great value. I bought this one and then splurged and ordered myself a Veritas for Christmas. For occasional use it is perfect. If you are going to use it quite often maybe another one would be more suitable, but I really don’t know about other brands. For tge price it is excellent.

Good quality.
It came adequately sharpened. It actually needed some additional set up but I expected that. I spent maybe 3 minutes on the whetstone then about a minute stopping with leather it to razor sharpness. It took longer to adjust the depth but once I got it tuned up it was taking paper thin peelings from my maple longbow. I am very happy with it. I've been shaving it for about three hours now. It hasn't lost any sharpness so it is obviously good quality steel. Some are complaining about sharpness but their complaints are probably misdirected. The secret is to get it adjusted properly and used properly. It's like any other planer you can buy. Even the high quality planers need regular sharpening stropping and adjusting. I recommend this one for occasional use. If you're a pro, maybe spend the money for a better one. Forthe backyard or garage use this is a great buy.
