Mr.BarBQ 08106X Round Grill Pan, Cast Iron

This pan was purchased to replace another cast iron grill pan that has been left to rust on the grill all winter '. I use mine for cooking vegies on the grill alongside the meat of the night. My wife and I love it! The Pros: • It is nearly indestructible – it is cast Iron after all • The holes in the bottom allow juice/oil to drain out • Large enough to cook vegies for four without making a mess out of the grill • Easy to clean – just wipe it down (I scrub mine with a little salt and a paper towel) and oil it up The Cons: • It is really heavy (It is cast iron!) • Prone to rust if you don’t take care of it correctly We use ours almost every night during the summer. In Southern California it gets really hot during the summer and being able to cook all of dinner on the grill, and not turning on the stove or oven, really helps with keeping the house cool.

Handle was broken off when received. Returned for refund. Did not reorder.

When I was searching for a cast iron skillet for the grill that had holes to allow the flames and smoke pass through to the food, I was surprised to find exactly what I was looking for. The pan is solid and does not feel cheap when holding it. Aesthetically, the only drawback is the "dainty" looking handle. The design and size of the handle doesnt affect its functionality, but just looks odd. Obviously for a skillet for the grill, a shortened handle is an asset so that you can close the lid and reserve grilling surface. I feel if they made the handle beefier it would help the pan feel more solid and well balanced in the hand. I should note that I do not have any concerns of the handle breaking. That one minor design flaw aside, this is a great pan and seasoned nicely. I would definitely buy again and eecommend it to others!

I originally considered buying a stainless steel grilling pan, but this would not season in the same way as cast iron and would be more difficult to keep clean (at least appearance-wise). I noticed that Sur La Table sells a black glazed ceramic grilling pan, but wanted something less expensive. You can also a buy a cast iron grilling pan in the traditional rectangular shape, but its pretty spendy. This pan fits nicely inside my grill and I like that it has two handles. It seasoned easily and is working quite well. My vegetables and other grill items don't stick! Plus, it is a breeze to clean (I use a chain mail scrubber, also purchased on Amazon). My main complaint is that the long handle seems a bit too thin and flimsy. I don't think it will break off, but I do wish it were a bit thicker. Also, some of the other BBQ grill pans tend to hold more because they have higher walls. However, this means that some of the food may not be in good contact with the floor of the pan and get those nice grill marks. I therefore don't mind this relatively shallow pan.

This was my second attempt at ordering this item the first did not arrive safely in shipping and had to be returned. This was packed much better and did arrive safely. It is exactly what I was looking for.
