It works
For a sanding block, it does the job. The size of the block works great for standard sized rolls of sandpaper. The standard sandpaper rolls SLIGHTLY overhang on the sides of the sanding block, which is great so that you can get into corners. The bottom of the block also has a EXTREMELY SLIGHT arc to it so that the front and back of the block create a little more friction on the sanding surface. It's also a hard durable rubber (or at least that's what I think it is), so it's softer to hold onto that a piece of wood, and it seems like it would last a long time. Lastly, it has "teeth" on both sides of the sanding block that grab onto the sandpaper. That's really nice. Then you don't even need to worry about using the sticky back of sandpaper. The sandpaper holds really well.

Classic, Basic, bit of a hassle. Great value for money
Works wonderfully. The rubber is a bit too hard on first receiving to easily get the paper inside however it does loosen up with use and heat. Biggest con is the size. Due to the smaller base size and how much paper you need to attach it to the nails you end up only using about 50% of the strip of paper.

Traditional sanding block. Heavy rubber with nails.
Anyone who has used sanding blocks should be familiar with these. It has 2? Nails on each end covered by a rubber flap. You fold the sandpaper into the crevice and puncture it onto the nails. This holds it in place.I haven’t had any issues with it - but other people complained about the material. There is another colored one - same brand - that may be better if you have difficulties with this one. It’s a light reddish brown color. This one is a harder feeling rubber. This will always beat the yellow, Velcro variation sand blocks. I’m sure they have their own use, but the Velcro ones always seem flimsy and come off using use!

Great Old School Block
I was so happy find these real rubber sanding pads. The same as 40 years ago. The hard plastic ones that are popular today are not nearly as good nor do the modern ones have the same feel in the hand. Good Pads.

Heavy, very difficult to refill / remove sandpaper
I wish there was a trustworthy brand that made something more lightweight, but all the reviews (and my experiences) suggest anything cheaper either will fall apart or is somehow not flat on the bottom (and so can't do the only thing a sanding block needs to do). So that leaves you with this classic brick. I don't understand why it needs to be so heavy, as that gets in the way of being able to use it more effectively and for longer periods of time. Also, the process of opening / removing / replacing the paper seems to take three hands, so unless you have a close assistant helping you sand, then you'll have to figure out how to do it "good enough" with just two.
