I don't know for sure, but suspect that "sateen" sheets must be cheaper to make somehow, because they have totally come to dominate the sheet market now. Whether it's a money thing, or simply that most people prefer the sateen feel, it's become harder and harder to find good percale sheets. THESE are the ones! They've got that great crisp percale feel that I love, are just the right thickness, are well made and durable, and come at a reasonable price. Are they as "soft" as sateen right out of the box? No, but after only 2 or 3 washes they soften right up, though they will never feel "silky" the way sateen does, which is exactly what I don't like about sateen anyway - it feels too cold and slippery! These percale sheets are not more wrinkly than sateen either, which is a common complaint for some percale. And being made of certified organic cotton is icing on the cake. BTW if you're sold on sateen, California Design Den makes excellent sateen sheets as well.

Love these sheets. the dark grey color is a great color. I love they are egyptian cotton in a percale weave as that is the exact reason I bought them. I hate microfiber sheets in their various weaves as they are too hot and not very breathable. These sheets with their cotton material and percale weave are excellent. They stay cool and crisp and breathe well and overall feel better to sleep on. The fit and size is perfect and I love the heavier duty elastic on the fitted sheet. I've been using them for 6 months or so now and notice no signs of stains. They wash and dry well - though they do wrinkle - especially if you leave them in the dryer after its done. But I don't care about the wrinkles and most disappear after on the bed. The sheets are towards the thin side which I much prefer - so these are not thick and heavey sheets. The price is reasonable for these. I've used many different sheets over my life and I will very specifically look to re-buy these when needed.

The most comfortable sheets! 100% cotton sheets. They are cooling, soft, and the fitted sheet has DEEP pockets which I love soooo much! Great product! Will definitely keep in my rebuy list!

These are really nice sheets, very soft with top-notch details: sturdy/generous elastic and tags that indicate bed size and orientation. That said, I bought them because the title says "crisp percale" but there is nothing crisp about them. I was expecting sturdy and wrinkly, but these don't wrinkle much and they are much softer than the other percale sheets I've purchased. I threw them in the wash as soon as I got them without paying a lot of attention, so I didn't feel like I deserved to return them. I don't know whether they are true percale or not, and waited a few months before reviewing because I wanted to use them and see if they are as cooling as I am used to with other brands. Verdict: they feel in-between sateen and percale. One star off because of false advertising: I wouldn't have bought them without the word "crisp" in the title and they are not remotely crisp.

This is my second set of these sheets and I absolutely love them. I don’t like clingy sheets and these California Design Den percale sheets are perfect. The quality is great and they’re soft without that clinging feel. The elastic on the bottom sheet keeps it nice and tight on the mattress. I’ll not be purchasing any other brand of sheets as long as they keep making these.

There's a kid on a tricycle, a glass of lemonade on a picnic table, and various family members talking and laughing in slow motion. A ray of sun bursts through the laundry that is drying on the clothesline and causes a charming lens flare on the camera. [Stick with me. I'm going somewhere with this, I promise.] Now... think closely about those bedsheets, blowing in the breeze. Get really specific in your imagination. Do those sheets look SILKY? Are they shiny and glossy? Do they look slippery? Nope. They just look like... linen. Or cotton. Crisp, clean, inviting. Those sheets you're picturing - they have a PERCALE weave, not sateen. For years I've been unhappy with the various bedsheets I've owned. Sheets are tricky bastards. I've been hoodwinked over and over. I go to the store, unzip a corner of the packaging, and shove my hand in as far as I can. I close my eyes and try to imagine lying on them. "Oooh, these are so silky and smooth! Oh my giggledy-goggledy-gosh! So soft! I just have to have them!" I giggle like a little girl and fling open my wallet. [SIDE NOTE: For what it's worth, I'm a long-haired straight dude who lives alone in an RV in the woods. But yes, I've been known to giggle.] I race home, wash the sheets, and dive headfirst into my newly made bed. Halfway through the first night, I'm already disappointed. They felt great for the first 2 minutes and then... something's just wrong. Sneaky sheet-bastards tricked me again! But how??? It took me until my 40s to figure it out. I don't want silky sheets. I don't want sateen. I just want sheets that feel like... sheets. I want PERCALE. I spent 20 years touring as an actor - countless nights in hotels. I always loved the feel of hotel sheets. Guess what? They're not sateen. They're PERCALE. Ninety-eight percent of the sheets I see in stores are sateen. I don't know why. PERCALE is the weave that feels like home, comfort, and rest. Say it with me... "Percale." One more time, a little louder... "Percale." Well done. I'm proud of you. As for this particular product by this particular company: California Design Den nailed it. The weight of these sheets is perfect. The fit is perfect. The elastic on the fitted sheet is robust and strong - the sheet stays put. The pillowcases don't fit my pillows quite right, but that's a reflection on my pillows, not the sheets. I love that the pillowcases have an envelope enclosure! The whole product feels like it will last. The price is terrific. PRO TIP: Buy plain white sheets. Trust me. (Remember those sheets you imagined in the TV commercial, blowing in the wind? What color were they?) It really adds to the clean, inviting, floating-off-to-sleep feel. I can't explain it. I've always bought dark-colored sheets before but I will never go back! Plus, you can bleach them if needed. So... Forget about thread count. Forget about "you need to spend 200 bucks to get a great set of sheets." Forget about silky, slippery, and shiny. Forget about "this amazing new micro-fiber bla-bla-bla blend." Forget about patterns and colors. Buy this great set of PERCALE sheets, made by a great company, in plain white, and GO. TO. SLEEP. You need it. Reading this review must have been EXHAUSTING.

Guys — trust me on this. This is the easiest and most affordable way to elevate the style of your bedroom. I’ve done extensive research on how to find hotel‑style bed sheets, and this is the one. They must be cotton percale with a thread count no higher than 300 - that’s the key to achieving that crisp, luxurious feel without overspending. I bought 2 pink and white one.

California Den Queen Sheet Set: Organic White. I always check new sheets for flaws in stitching and holes in fabric. I am really impressed with these sheets. Other high-quality sheet sets I have bought have had uneven stitching and looped threads, but the stitching on these sheets was even and straight, the stitches even and secure. The only flaw I found was at the top right corner where the sewer didn't backstitch enough to secure the thread before finishing the sheet. That was clearly going to come loose if I washed the sheet, so I got out the needle and thread and made a few stitches of my own. It took about three minutes and the sheet was perfect. Easy peasy, and not hard. I have a full/double mattress, but because I like the larger flat sheet, I get Queen-sized sheet sets. The fitted sheet is more than deep enough to fit my 12" mattress, with plenty of fabric left over for tucking. Because of the strong elastic that goes all the way around the fitted sheet, it holds onto the mattress firmly and keeps a slightly too-large sheet from being wrinkly. I will be certain to only wash the fitted sheet in cold water, and hang to dry, so that the elastic lasts forever– heat breaks down elastic over time. I like very crisp sheets because I'm a hot sleeper and I can't stand sleeping on overly soft sheets. When I took these sheets out of the package, I was tempted to put them onto my bed right away (after backstitching that top right corner, of course). But since I'm chemically sensitive and I could smell sizing, possibly starch, on the sheets (to make and keep them flat for presentation), I had to wait while they were first washed, then hung to dry. Then right onto the bed and– it's so nice to lie down in a bed with crisp sheets. I can't describe it. It's emotionally relaxing. The crispness makes them feel extra clean; that's the beauty of percale weave. At first I wasn't too keen on the two-coloured stitching at the top of the flat sheet (one row of grey, one row of light emerald), but I think I like it now, maybe even prefer it. When I imagine the sheet with just ordinary rows of white on white, it seems kind of boring. Now I'm waiting on a set of the same in pink (gotta love sales). There were two in stock when I placed my order, and now it seems the computer system wasn't keeping up with the sales and they sold out before my order was confirmed; they're just that popular. I'm a bit peeved that I've been waiting over two weeks for them to even ship– it may take even longer. But as long as I get them before we hit the 6-week mark, I'll be happy. And I'll be very happy to put them on my bed, because I luuurrvv these sheets.

Fantastic set. I love how deep the pockets are and how THICK the elastic is on the fitted sheets. I have never had a problem with these sheets popping off the corners. These sheets are a bit rough the first couple of washes, but soften up gloriously with use and additional washes. These are my go-to brand of sheets now.

This sheet set in Queen size fits my deep mattress (16 inches) perfectly! The elastic is thick and hugs the mattress all the way around keeping the corners intact. The material is not as smooth as microfiber but I find it cool and comfortable. The only negative is it wrinkles badly after washing. As the photos show the sheets have not yet been washed but the pillowcases have...they came out of the dryer very wrinkled. I will have to iron them before using so 4 stars.

These sheets are an accurate XL twin size and fit well. The percale 100% cotton is soft and comfortable. The sheets are well made and will be durable. Definitely recommend these sheet sets.

These are lovely, crisp sheets. They fit our pillow top mattress perfectly! I will buy again.
