30 Notes Hand Crank Music Box Movement with Copper Gear DIY Make Your Music Tool Kit (30notesMovementCopperGear)

I made up this song for it. It has good sound in real life, (the mic messes it up) it comes with a pre-written song, a hole punch, 10 blank 150-beat strips, mounting screws, and the music box. It’s not very loud by itself, so you have to mount it to a resonating box to get a louder sound. If some notes don’t play, make sure you have the paper edge touching the left side of the slot. (Not centered.) The gears came to me well oiled and didn’t make hardly any noise. Very fun to punch out songs for it, (I’ve made 3 already) seems to be good quality. It doesn’t come with a manual though, so you have to work with it to get the hang of it.

Really cool product! I was able to use it to create a custom nursery rhyme for my child, after first using the included happy birthday song template, but I looked at the available notes ahead of time to ensure all the notes were there. There's a couple complete octaves of notes, with some high and low notes. Be mindful that the base key might be different from other 30-note products, so make sure you read the entire listing! Also, I bent the hole sheet a bit and taped the ends together with scotch tape to allow playing songs in a loop. Get creative!

Good quality, but a bit expensive. It has played multiple times without issue. Great purchase for those with some musical knowledge. Music boxes do not have every note in the chromatic scale, so you might have to transpose a song to a different key signature in order to holepunch.

I was going to give this five stars but I gave four because I think the gears are a little loud. After a short while I could also hear a little "knock" from the gears once per revolution, but I haven't been able to find out why it does that. That's my only complaint with this. It seems to be an "F" type music box in case you're wondering. One thing I was impressed by was it's tuning seems very good and makes a nice sound. You get ten strips of paper and I suggest practicing punching the holes where you want them on a test strip before trying to make your dream song. You can tape up mistakes with clear tape when you make a mistake. The hole puncher works good and makes nice, crisp holes. I make the songs on the Music Box Manics website, download, print, then transfer where the holes should be with pencil on the paper strip. Don't look at the notes printed on the paper strip, just download as a 30 note "F" type and count up/down the bars where the holes go because the printed notes on the strip aren't right, at least not on mine. There are many other songs people have put on that website too if you don't want to make your own, but making your own is the whole point, right? I would recommend this to anyone that is interested in making your own music box songs.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that Wingo has installed the brass gear set on this music box frame. Granted, it's about $10 more than competitors, but totally worth it to get those gears rather than plastic. Wingostore also includes a punch, blank 71mm paper strips that are printed with punch lines (for making your own music) and one sample "punched" strip that includes a nice musical piece. Definitely a good purchase.

Handle loose and won't turn gears when sheet is inside. Sheets it came with mind you. Can probably be fixed but out of the box has not worked very well.

works great and sounds good too. if you dont have a box already, try mounting it to the box it comes in to get a nice warm sound. the gears make more noise than i was expecting. i expect this is due to the loose tolerances where the gears meet. also the blank paper strips that comes with have the incorrect notes labeled on them. i am attaching an image of the the correctly labeled notes...
