These strings have a slightly different feel than a traditional uncoated string, so they take a little getting used to, but the longevity is amazing. After a few weeks of playing, I have gotten accustomed to the feel and am pleased that the required string changes are so infrequent. The tone is slightly different than a traditional string, but this is a small tradeoff for the incredibly long life. I would describe the tone as less metallic and less resonant. With traditional strings, I can get 5 star tone for about 1 week but I can get 4.5 star tone for months out of these. These are the only strings that I buy and the only reason that I would buy traditional strings wlould be for applications when absolute best sound quality is required (big time recording session or something of that nature). Even though the price per pack is higher, these strings are a value and are great for home use, bar gigging and almost every other situation.

Such great strings. So smooth and with a protective coating that protects it from the oils which ruin the amazing sound and feel they have.

I have a couple dozen electric guitars that I play regularly (and more that get played less often). Elixir strings sound great and stay that way much longer than most other strings. If it weren't for Elixirs, I'd spend more time changing strings than rehearsing. I highly recommend them.

I love these strings. I have an acidic body PH which can be really corrosive on regular guitar strings as well as the guitar hardware. I've struggled all my life with the issue trying every trick in the book to try to keep the strings from corroding and rusting. A few years ago I started using Elixir strings on my acoustic guitars, because we all know that acoustic strings start to loose their tone within days of being installed, and I have been very happy with the extended life span. I just recently started using them on my electrics and have found them to be equally long life. I have figured that even given the increase in price the long life and good tone make using them cost effective also being that I don't have to change strings anywhere near as often. If you have not tried Elixirs give a pair a spin, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Previously used nanoweb on both my electric with a pick and acoustic guitar for Fingerstyle am now a convert to these. Wish they did optiweb for acoustic. Nanoweb last a reasonably long time but I find they always fray over most used frets and where they are picked/strummed (pick or no pick). These don’t fray and so keep their tone MUCH longer. +Clear, bright well-balanced tone not thin or weedy +no fraying of coating + very long lasting +quieter under the fingers than nanoweb +no sticky feeling - fine for both Fingerstyle and picked electric + no black fingers like with uncoated strings - expensive, but definitely worth the extra better over nanoweb as much longer lasting.
