STAUB Cast Iron Chistera, Black, 24 cm

I have always been a fan of Le Creuset but had been eyeing Staub for a while as k was told it was more ‘non stick’ and easier to maintain. This Ian isn’t as pretty as the Le C I own but I’ve jazzed it up with one of the Staub Cockeral replacement knobs (love that you can do that). My first thought on opening the pan was that k wish I’d got a higher size as it seems small (though there is only the two of us to cook for) but actually hold a more than enough for two good sized portions. I found the interior far less likely to have food stick than LC and it holds heat well. (Worth noting if you are new to cast iron cookware that cooking temperatures and times can often be reduced!). Clean up is also easy. So far I’m loving this pan and now have my eye on a new more bits and bobs from Staub!

Excellent - good weight and design and just seems to cook everything really well. Pricey - but sometimes it's worth paying for top quality that I am sure will be very durable.

Favourite pot for making sauces, curries, hob to oven dishes. Would not live without! (Not so good for frying steaks etc but using non stick for those).

I clipped a star as it stained after the first and very careful use. But I love it as this will not have a huge impact on the performance but hopefully just cosmetic, Yes, it is heavy but this gives me a little exercise before my meal while cooking and hey I do not sprint in the kitchen with a pan in hand. It sits on the stove where it belongs. I certainly think that the food is tastier as it retains the juices thanks to the clever lid design. Talking about the lid, I would have preferred the bras handling knob to be flat so when you put the lid upside down it would sit better rather than moving in half circles. It is well made in France and they know how to cook, design and manufacture anything kitchen related so well done to them.

First time I have ever spent so much on a pot. But it was exactly what I needed so i took the plunge. So glad I did.... Fabulous item.

Fantastic pan. Makes me love cooking more. Gets to a good heat and sears very well. Soak it and any baked on residue just floats off. I had white drying spots but a touch of oil brushed on with a paper towel after it’s all cleaned and dry restores it to it’s black lustre. Aside from the tiny handles, honestly a great pan to have. Boil, bake, steam, fry, no issues!

Because I want to avoid toxic pots and pans, I exclusively use cast iron to cook. The enameled cast iron pots are easy to use and cook, and an added bonus of the Staub pans is that they look so good.

We use for shabu shabu, grill streak or cook rice. Can be pot or pan… uses everyday recommend it.
