Not a comprehensive map, too many omissions
Very disappointed by the information presented on this map. I was shocked to note that some large and notable Iron Age hillforts in my vicinity were not shown on the map. If this is true for where I live, I suspect it is true of all areas. I actually contacted OS Maps to register my dissatisfaction. They stated that they had relied on information from other agencies, and had not verified the data for accuracy or inclusiveness.

Something is missing from the map.
Open the map on the side showing Scottish historical features. Take a look at the Isle of Coll. I know of three duns that don't appear on the map and in my holiday photos. The most glaring omission is in Totronald near the Scottish RSPB centre. Na Sgeulachan, teller of tales standing stones. Why are they not on the map? There is an unnamed stone near Crossapol too but Mr Ordnance so called Survey obviously didn't bother to get off the ferry in Arinagour to take a proper look. The map itself is of the usual standard as expected but how do you fail to put anything on Coll when the neighbouring Isle of Tiree has sites marked! The islands are approximately the same size and there's enough sea in which to add titles.

Don't bother. You probably know more.
Content was poor to say the least. I bought this with expectation that it would shed some further light on my surrounding area and beyond. I actually know more than the map shows. Local roman roads missing, barrowe, missing. It is rubbish.

A good opportunity missed
The OS maps of the Dark Ages and of Ancient Britain have always been very useful sources for the historian and archaeologist. Landscapes need good maps. The map of Roman Britain is still excelllent, but the new version of the Ancient Britain map fails in many ways. The modern underlay is too intrusive and the failure to include Roman roads, a key element of every period after their construction, removes the essential context for much of the detail. Still an interesting exercise, but in comparison to their own much lamented Dark Ages map - which was outstanding - this is not very useful, or attractive.

Very useful map.
Only has the more well known ancient monuments omitting quite a few in my area. However, a very useful modern map overlaid with colour coded information on the various eras of antiquity.Delivery was very prompt from Wordery and the item arrived in excellent condition.

Brilliant
Just exactly what it says. Ancient sites on an OS map - but so many that you've never heard off. Can't wait to find them all.
