Mustek A3 1200HS High Speed Scanner

NO PILOT LIGHT SO YOU CAN'T SEE IF ITS ON AND NOT EASY TO SET UP

This have been invaluable for my artwork. Quick and east to use.

Cheapest A3 scanner I could find. Not as smooth, or decent colour or as quiet as my old A4 Canon Lide 80 scanner, but I mostly scan line pen drawings so not so much of an issue. Not as quick as claimed but still very rapid for a whole A3. Fairly noisy. Overall look of it is good. Needs to be plugged into the mains as well as usb.I've used the scan software to scan but photoshop to make all adjustments. (Max OSX 10.6.8)Main point for me is the underside of the lid is black. I scan mostly on tracing paper which means I need to put a sheet of A3 white paper over the top which is a little annoying.Hoping it lasts longer than some people suggest. Happy so far knowing the cost of others on the market.

I am so fed up with this purchase. I have used it once successfully, treated it gently and stored it in its original packaging in a safe place. I took it out and tried to use it again today on a large scan and it simply doesn't work - makes a faint sound, and a dark image appears on the laptop screen, but no bright light or movement within the scanner. And now I understand the 'return window has closed'!? This item simply doesn't work and I only bought it this year. I am a small trader and can ill afford to waste money on a piece of junk.

I have used this heavily for a few months to scan magazines and haven't run into any major issues so far. Sometimes the machine gets stuck and freezes after scanning a page, unplugging and plugging the scanner back in usually fixes it. The main problem is the bundled software, it is horrible and it opens whenever you open the scanner. Third party software is required to use the machine effectively.

Excellent A3 scanner and great value for money

I have had no problem with this scanner so far, you do have to help it a bit by putting a book or something to apply pressure on the page you are scanning to make sure it doesn't come out blurry (the cover isn't heavy enough to do this). Very easy to use otherwise.

Whilst clearly a budget scanner, it looked OK and scanned very quickly. However, I was deeply disappointed to be let down by the software which is so spartan as to be of no value.I scan B&W documents that can be quite old and my A4 scanner has lots of little tweaks that allow me to enhance scans of degraded paper - the Mustek has nothing other than brightness and the results were poor. I didn't try any colour scans as, the next day, it failed with a 'Power control failure' error message.Not impressed and it was promptly returned.
