Q: Is this a green noise machine? It is described as a white/green noise machine, but there is no explanation how to use it in 'green' mode.

It is actually just a white noise machine. I think green or pink refers to the color on the machine. It's basically a fan noise. I was listening to pink noise through iTunes, but it kept stopping and waking me up. I bought this and it really drowns everything out and it's kind of relaxing, but it's just white noise which is basically the noise of a fan. Hope that helps.

Q: does it get very loud like the lectro evo ?

I don’t know if it’s as loud-don’t know the one you mentioned. However it has two volume settings, one softer and one louder. And in each of those you can twist the dome and it will make it even louder or more muffled. It is quite loud in my opinion, we use it on the lower setting but twisted to the loudest side of the spectrum (if that makes sense!) I need a good amount of white noise to block out sounds and it works perfectly for me. Hope this helps!

Q: is there an on/off switch? or do you need to unplug it to turn it off?

There is an on/off switch that actually toggles between high/off/low.
