you get what you pay for
if that is 1000 lumens I'll be very surprised - not near as bright as my buddies 750 lumen mares torch but at least it was waterproof down to about 20m. Go for something else if you can afford it and rechargeable at that - I can see batteries are going to cost as much as a decent torch!

How to switch on / waterproof
The torch is switched on by rotating the back part of the torch. It tends to be stiff and isn't what I'd call an elegant solution. I have seen better and so wouldn't recommend the torch.I've used it underwater to about 7m and it worked fine.
