The Borrowers - Series 1 [DVD]

Like the dvd a lot found it very interesting and a bit different than expected. A nice surprise really.

A good quality DVD showing a fabulous story

I remember watching this series as a child in England, and although i was rather young at the time, the series left a good impression on me, enough so that when I saw the series for sale on amazon, i didn't think twice, but ordered it on the spot. I then spent the next two weeks like a teenager before a date, eagerly awaiting its arrival. I was not let down. The DVD is very nice, with a beautiful Cardboard flip box (with an amazing imprint of a playing card on the inside box) and the series...Still good. Watching it today I still marvel at good actors (and yes, Ian holm was, and is, a good actor) ability to create good TV without todays special effects, and without being tempted to be too childish or too violent - Both adults and children will throughly enjoy this series. The fact that the DVD has SDH subtitles is another point in it's favour - too many editions are without subtitles at all, in complete disregard to the people who need them. The series is a real Gem and this edition does it the honor it deserves.

Was great to be reminded of my favourite childhood book of the little people who lived under the floorboards !

forgot how short this was great show brings back some great memories can't wait till end of the week for season 2

I live in North America and I guess I am not up on DVD formats because I didn't realize I wouldn't be able to watch this on my TV. So I had to watch it on my computer which was more than a bit annoying. The stories were exactly as I remembered them and was very happy with the content itself. My 4 & 5 year old grandsons watched the first episode with me and loved it. So it still appeals to children today. My daughter & I decided to dig out the books and start reading them to the boys. She likes to read chapter books to them at bedtime.

Bought it as had fond memories watching as a child, also so that my son can experience as well.Neither of us are disappointed.

I remembered watching this broadcast originally on PBS when I was little and was so happy to find it on DVD. I never watched the American produced version of the Borrowers but had fond memories of the BBC version.Since this is only available (as far as I could find) in Region 2 and 4 format I knew that I'd need a work around.I purchased an inexpensive external DVD drive: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MJW5BXZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1and once I plugged it into my computer I was able to go in the settings/properties and change the region code for the player. *NOTE* this can only be done 4 times before you will be locked out and whatever setting you last used will be the permanent setting. So I chose to sacrifice this particular DVD player and plan to only use it to view Region 2 DVDs *END NOTE*Once I did this I was able to play this Region 2 DVD no problem with my external DVD drive on my computer using VLC.And it's just as I remember. SO happy to have this in my collection.

Série que mes enfants ont écouté à l'époque. De petits bons hommes qui empruntent des objets de tous les jours aux humains, leur remettent une fois l'usage complété, avec les imbroglios que cela comportent.

Maravilloso. It is a masterpiece. Wonderful and sensitive, Ian Holm amazing as always. And the music is absolutely perfect for this story. Both adults and kids will enjoy it.

Die Serie ist sehr gut inszeniert. Charmante, eher "billige" Spezialeffekte gepaart mit sympathischen Schauspielern machen diese Kinderbuchverfilmung zu einem sehenswerten Erlebnis.Die DVD verfügt über eine englische Tonspur und englische Untertitel für Hörgeschädigte. Wer also mit gesprochenem Englisch seine Probleme hat kann die Serie mit Untertiteln genießen.Die Bildqualität ist weitgehend gut. An einigen Stellen sieht man der Serie ihr Alter jedoch an.Also wenn Ihr die Borger mögt, dann borgt euch die DVD!

Timeless classic I love it! It does not play on my xbox due to the reason it's a different region which is stated clearly for viewers who do not know much about tech. But it plays on my computer!!! The quality other reviewers complain about is rubbish. Remember this was made long before all this high tech special effects and blue rays hd crap. If you want to see a true classic the same as it was when I was a child watching this on VHS and if you enjoy BBC than this is perfect for you :) the seller was great it came in perfect condition and on time I have no complaints at all!
