Will surely spark an interest in real food; such gloriously colourful and stylish presentation
The Children's Step-By-Step Cookbook, a complete cookery course for children. A Dorling Kindersley book by Angela Wilkes.I chose this book for our six-year-old grandson who has always loved cooking with me and at home. Now he can read confidently I am really pleased to have come across this Recipe Book, his first one ever. I am very taken with this motivational, encouraging and exciting book myself, and rather want to hang on to it.Everything about cookery is education without realising that's what's going on. Weighing, checking, organising, following instructions and then wow, the excitement of the finished product and the reward of warm praise all round. The shiny, jewel bright photographs are nothing short of exquisite. Men who have never tried much cookery, having seen the book, remark that they would also love to have a go and would enjoy the results, so this book is definitely inspirational. The Cowboy Bean Bake looks to be every man's dream supper. It really would suit all ages coming to cookery for the first time. Perhaps, like the Harry Potter Books, it could have a different cover for adults. If all children could be introduced to this book the diet of the nation could be improved at a stroke. The simplest snacks look completely gorgeous; Rainbow Kebabs include Fruity Treats, Ham and Fruit, Cheese and Pineapple...and more. Sandwich fillings and finger bites to revolutionise the lunch box. Sheer fun food to lift lunch above the everyday and make your children smile.Throughout the book there are light bulb moments when you realise once again that the most nutritious meals can also be the most attractive. Children perhaps do need to be shown that everything sold ready made in the supermarket can also be assembled at home from raw ingredients; for far less cost, hugely better taste and all round goodness. With the bonus that this occupation that will keep them involved, concentrating and focussed on the satisfying preparation of a family treat.Explanations of food groups, helpful kitchen tools and equipment, decorating tips, a "how to' picture glossary, all brightly photographed and simply presented, back up the 50 yummy recipes, photographed step-by-step, that we can't wait to try. Compliments will follow, I am certain.

A nice gift for someone
Bought as a gift, so cannot comment on how good it is, but am assured by the parents that it has been a worthwhile gift.

Not just for the kids!
When a younger family member showed me this book, I was expecting it to just contain a few simple recipes that the little ones could have fun with, but to my surprise, there were also quite a few recipes that I wanted to have a go at myself - to the extent that I ended up ordering my own copy!Obviously, as it's marketed at children, there's a lot of introductory stuff about identifying ingredients and working safely, and certainly there's a lot of fun, simple recipes for the kids, such as pizza toppings, sandwiches, easy to make cookies and gingerbread people. But don't discount this as one for the kids only, as there are quite a few recipes that are great for making and serving to any age group. From tasty apple pie and fish pie to delicious fried rice and the new family favourite "cowboy bean bake", all of the recipes have clear, straightforward instructions, and for a little bit of effort, give excellent results.Overall, this is a great little book to have on the shelf, and unless you're the kind of cook who aspires to only cook high end Michelin-class meals, I would highly recommend investing in this book - regardless of whether or not you have children!

Good book, grubby condition
The book itself is good, lots of clear pictures you expect from this brand, but the condition wasn't the best. Whilst you expect some marks as its 2nd hand, this book was dirty. There is writing in it, and food on the outside. Bit disappointed to be honest.
