21" Professional Backgammon Set - Brown Croco Board with Beige Field - Gen III

This is a board that looks and plays like it has been designed by connoisseurs of the game. The playing surface is smooth and durable while its looks will attract many admiring glances. The weight (4.5k) is manageable especially if you don't have a car. These comments are in no way influenced by the fact I won the second tournament I played using it.

This really is a lovely backgammon set. The V-FiberTM-lined cups and playing field make a nice muffled sound when shaking and rolling the dice. The marbleised checkers with their finger dish look amazing and glide effortlessly over the board surface. The case appears to be well made with good quality catches and handle. The croco material covering the case looks nice though feels quite thin so not sure how it would stand up to regular use.On the set delivered, the white checkers would only fit in one of the side troughs. Also, two of the brown checkers were much thinner than the others (that probably explains why they were able to fit in the shorter trough). Unfortunately, due to these issues, I have returned the set to Amazon. I'm tempted to reorder but afraid the new set will have similar problems. We'll see.

A well made product , and the best board I’ve ever payed on . Not sure it’s £249 price is quite right but never the less a great item . Very pleased with my purchase.

I bought one of these sets and was very disappointed when I open the packaging. Some of the panels were peeling up already and the case looks far more gaudy and plasticy than the pictures suggest.I have now stuck down the panels, sanded the tacky crocodile skin and sprayed with matt varnish. It looks now like an authentic leather case although I'm not sure if the varnish will prove a problem or not later.Unfortunately these large felt backgammon boards seem to attract a premium and for something which is in excess of £200, it is not good value.

I've played enough games of backgammon, on enough different boards to appreciate how much has to come together for a board to be great to play on. In my opinion this board is perfect for playing on and offers by far the best value for money.I have a couple of friends who have them too, so am quite familiar with them. Mine arrived for Christmas, and one of the checkers was chippped, I contacted Wycliffe and they sent me a replacement PLUS two spares (one of each color). That's good customer service. My only critique is that the surface is easily stained, so not sure how long I'll be able to keep mine pristine. But then I purchased it to be used. I've enough ornamental boards :) (well maybe room for one more, hey)
