Cowon Plenue J is a sweet little music player
It's not a perfect device, but I give it 5 stars because it's really about the sound, which is incredible.This is a dedicated high quality hi-res music player. It has a solid and focused interface; it's not Android, no apps, Wifi, or Bluetooth, which is partly why I bought it. It came with version 1.00 of its software, but it was easy to get version 1.10 from Cowon's website and upgrade.The sound is amazing, smooth but detailed, and very punchy and dynamic. It really benefits from good hi-res FLAC files, but even CD-quality sounds great. For me, a lot of digital players sound a little screechy or gritty, but what is often cringe-worthy on other players is now pleasant to listen to.It's slim and light, but feels solid. The touchscreen works fine; the response is a little slow, but still easy to use. I got the "blue" one, but the color is mainly a subdued gray with a a slight blueish tinge. Really an elegant looking unit.I ran into a couple bugs. For some reason, a few albums had their tracks all listed individually as separate albums. If I deleted and re-uploaded those albums, it seemed to fix itself. It also appears that embedded album art in a PNG format is not supported, nor art that is too large (though I'm not sure what the size limit is). But those things were solvable.I owned the Cowon Plenue D for several years, and loved it, and decided to take the next step up. So far I'm happy with that choice.

BEWARE if you’re using a Mac!!!
So far i’m only going to give this one star as I can’t get it to work on a MacBook Pro OS X 10.11.6. Apparently it should be compatible. Advice online hasn’t been any help just infuriating so BEWARE, from my experience so far this cowon plenue j is not for Mac’s only P.C’s. Will continue the effort to get the thing going though, hopefully a 5 star rating is yet to come.

Excellent audio player
I'm very happy with the device. It is a significant step up from the SanDisk Sansa Clip+ I had been using. I've put around 70 hours on the device so far. I find the OS to be both responsive and intuitive, the audio quality excellent and the battery life fantastic.
