Very disappointing. Greasy, yuck!
Having already bought Biltong from 2 suppliers including the Biltong Man I thought I would try some Droewors. I had previously had a sampler from another supplier and thought it was interesting. When I found a droewors that featured my two favourite spices, chile and garlic, I made a kneejerk reaction and plunged in for 600grams of this product.Big mistake. The product looks like a nice firm salami sliced into 1 - 2 inch lengths. On chewing it the firmness proved to be an illusion. This droewors was like a chocolate sweet, firm on the outside and creamy on the inside, except in this case the creamy inside quickly put a greasy coating all over my tongue and yielded no particular chile or garlic flavour, just some background generic slight savouriness. On checking the ingredients list I was shocked to see that the product is 40 per cent fat! And it gives 500kcal per 100g of product, which is half the calorific value of pure lard or beef dripping etc.I'll grant that I like my food highly spiced which may explain my disappointment with the flavour, and to some people it is obviously a good product, however I doubt I'll be eating the rest of my 600grams very soon and certainly will not purchase it again.

Not what you think it'll be
Two immediate problems with this.1) It's nothing like the picture2) It doesn't taste of garlic or chilliThe biltong is cut into chunks and not delivered as sticks as shown in the photograph. The biltong is soft (more like cheap salami texture) and has almost no flavour. There's a very, very slight lingering spice but it's almost unnoticeable and other than that it has no meat flavour whatsoever. You'll read the other reviews and buy it because it's cheap. Just be prepared for a cheap product that has none of the textural and flavour highlights of good biltong or jerky.Very disappointing.

The best - officials from a South African
As a dinkum South African, raised on braais, combies, sunny skies and Chevrolet, rugby, and melktert - I can confirm this is the best biItong and droewors I’ve ever had outside of my home town of Klerksdorp. Remember back in the late 70s when the local garage used to have an illicit projector room round the back and charge you a rand to watch bootleg American films while your uncle Roy got you some cold fantas and cut you a big lekker slice of perfectly salted billies with just the right amount of vet and moisture so you could chew it for ages while sipping on your cooldrink? THIS biltong is THAT memory. Pure perfection. Pure South Africa.

It's okay, won't order again though.
The flavour is pretty good, it could go heavier with the marinating spices and chilli & garlic but I get that it's flavoured for the mainstream market, and the reviews saying it's tasteless are definitely being unfair in my opinion.I like my droëwors pretty wet but that's obviously very difficult to achieve when posting it; this is a decent medium, has a nice snap to it but still pretty moist. It is greasy though, and leaves a weird coating in your mouth that I really don't like. I definitely prefer other makers for this reason. It would also be good to be able to reseal the packet after opening.

So morish!
This is the best droewors we have found in the UK. It is full of flavour and has a lovely texture. Some of the batches we have had have a slightly wetter texture than some - when this is the case we simply leave the packet open on the side for a day to let them dry out a bit. A brilliant after school snack for the kids to keep them going till dinner time. Would really recommend these. This companys biltong is also fantastic - especially the peri peri one which isnt too spicy.

Difficult to apply 'Good Value'
Sticks are well presented and packaged but each has a paper type sleeve hat you really want to try and peel of as chewy and un-digestible. Sticks contain a significant amount of rather unpleasant chewy sinu pieces, just big enough to get caught up in teeth an need to spit out as neither edible or any flavour with the texture of eating litle lumps of paper, so really spoils the item. All in all a real let down.

Simply delicious. Would definitely buy again
I've tried all different types/brands of Beef Jerky and Biltong and to be honest I've always been a little disappointed. So I thought I'd give these Droewors a go. They are simply delicious. I found it hard to put them down. They taste similar to salami sticks but obviously chunkier. The chili is VERY mild and the garlic isn't overpowering. The flavours compliment each other really well.

Perfect Taste But...
Very good taste, and just the right texture (Not too hard, not too soft). In fact nearly the perfect droewor. Why then only 3 stars? Put simply there were just too many grisly bits in the droewors, which makes you wonder about the quality of meat used in them. I'm usually not that fussy, but considering there were bits in the droewors that no amount of chewing could break down, I have to give them a miss next time round. Such a shame as perfect taste & perfect hardness
