At the height of their popularity,Poison were one of the most successful bands in the world and have to date sold over 30 million albums worldwide. This superb live performance captured at London's Hammersmith Apollo in 1993 was filmed during their Native Tongue global tour and features hits from that album as well as classic tracks from the band's history including Unskinny Bop,Stand,Until You Suffer Some(Fire And Ice)and the power ballad anthem,Every Rose Has Its Thorn.Including the bonus track Your Mamma Don't Dance set to previously unseen raw tour footage, this DVD is an unapologetic dose of 80s glam rock at its finest. For a decade between the mid-80s and 90s,Poison were one of the biggest rock groups in the world, scoring Top 40 hits and selling over 30 million albums.Icons of the MTV generation, their music and stage persona ensured a loyal following of adoring fans as Bret Michaels and Co poured out of televisions and radios around the globe.Formed in 1983 in Pennsylvania,it wasn't until they moved to LA a year later that Poison(previously called Paris)began to make their mark.Comprised of charismatic frontman Bret Michaels(vocals),guitarist Matt Smith(who was replaced by C.C. DeVille in 86),Bobby Dall on bass and drummer Rikki Rockett, the group were the epitome of a working band - self promoting and accepting any gig offered to them.In 1986 following the switch from Smith to DeVille,Poison released their debut album Look What The Cat Dragged In through Enigma Records. It proved the breakthrough the band needed, spawning a number of hit singles and earning Poison a spot touring with Quiet Riot,Cinderella and Ratt. Two years later their follow-up album Open Up And Say...Ahh! reached number 2 in the American charts, going on to sell 8 million copies worldwide. It included their biggest hit Every Rose Has Its Thorn,a number one around the world and still regarded as an all-time classic rock ballad. These were Halcyon days for the band,as they were promoted from support act to headliners in their own tour in September 1988 and were recognised as one of best-selling hard rock acts in America.1990 saw the release of their third album Flesh & Blood, another huge commercial success which provided the impetus for a world tour.It also sparked a change in style for the band, who shed their big-haired image for a more mature look.Swallow This Live, the band's fourth release was to be DeVille's last with the band,as the build-up of tension following months of touring finally boiled over and culminated in a fistfight between DeVille and Michaels backstage at the MTV Video Music Awards in 1991.21 year old guitarist Richie Kotzen filled the void created by DeVille's departure, and he flourished, influencing the band's sound with his songwriting and unique playing style evident on their fifth release Native Tongue. However,Kotzen's involvement was short-lived,being fired in 1993 after a secret relationship with drummer Rockett's then-fiancee...
