Cast Iron Plant Aspidistra Elatior Indoor House Plants Evergreen Tall Exotic 50-60cm (Incl. Pot)

While "Cast Iron" plants tend to be realitiviely expensive (compared to many other houseplants including more tropical varietieslike Bird of Paradise), they are low-maintance and hardy. They were more common in Victorian times, and could deal with all manners of air pollution and neglect...so you shouldn't have any issues.They are slow growing, which maybe a good thing or bad thing depending on your preference, but still great air purifiers to have in your home. You need to avoid exposing them to strong sunlight as this will damage the leaves. I would say they would be perfect on a desk or even in your bathroom (they'd appreciate the higher humidity.)Just be careful not to over water them (mine have been fine with tap water) and I find they perfer smaller pots. Because they are hardly you can use pretty much any compost you want. I'd also suggest you sit them on a humidity tray if possible, or at least give them a misting now and again (don't forget in winter when the radiators are on as well).Otherwise these are nice green plants to look at and you won't be disappointed. The one I received from "Gardener's Dream Ltd" is pictured. It was well packaged and arrived healthy (I had no doubt this species would mind you.) Don't worry if a few of the leaves are folded a bit when you receive your plant, they will slowly reopen.
