What a beautiful watch. It has an amazing blue dial with sunburst effect, a legible day/date window and a style that looks more expensive than it really is. This watch looks similar to the cheaper Seiko SNK793 that I used to have, but with more refined hands and case shape. The package has also a very nice presentation with a black cushioned interior. The case is about 37mm which is a traditional size for a dressy kind of watch, although it can also be worn for everyday casual occasions. I plan on buying a dark brown leather strap with it. It has the unconventional 19mm lug width, but Amazon does stock these sizes of straps. Removal of the spring bars can be tricky because Seiko uses shoulderless spring bars, so I recommend using a small Swiss army style of pocket knife to remove them, rather than the cheap spring bar removal tools found everywhere. The movement is the reliable Seiko 7s26c which is found in all of Seiko’s “lower end” automatics. I haven’t tested the accuracy of the watch yet but I expect it to be between -10 to +25 seconds per day just like all my other 7s26 automatics. This can also be regulated yourself if you have the patience to try it. Overall I am quite happy despite the slightly higher price premium over its SNKxxx counterparts.

Every morning I have to reset the time because the watch stops when I'm sleeping due to lack of movement. I'm going to return the watch. Hopefully Amazon will stand up to it's return policy.

It is a good watch. It has the Seiko standard reliable 7S26C movement, which however is now made in Malaysia. I’m not sure if there are even anymore of these low end models which are sold in Japan that are Japanese made – but I don’t know??? The one I received was +40 s/day (it was used like-new from Warehouse Deals), but I managed to adjust it (with trial and error) down to about +10 s/day which is fine for me. Just as a note: I have a few other watches with this movement and they were usually within +10 s/day out of the box. The case would now be considered on the small size for most people (I’ll also have to throw myself in that pool as well). Back when I was young all “men” watches were 36-38 mm. Now all those watches feel sooo small in comparison to watches being made. [as an aside – the whole goal of early wrist watch making was to make watch movements smaller and move the bulky pocket watch onto the wrist… guess fashion now is to try to put a grandfather clock on a nato band] This case is 38 mm. The lug width is 19 mm. I took off the steel band (which is absolutely fine) in favour of a nato style nylon band. Since most cheap nylon bands are either 18mm or 20mm, it was always just a bit off as either showing some lug (pun intended), or too tight. I finally found a slightly narrower 20 mm band that fit just right. The watch has a blue watch dial with silver markers and has a very nice clean look to it. Overall I like this model. If I was to start with 5 stars, I would take one off for the fact that the one I received was so off in accuracy. I would also take one off for the poor water resistance – I mean really, a small improvement would go a long way. However I do like the recessed crown at the 4 o’clock position, which gives the watch a little extra oomph.

The stock bracelet is too short! I know I have large wrists and I even knew these 5 series are a little on the smaller side going in. But for the stock band to not even fit at all is a little surprising considering I have never owned a watch that I couldn't at least wear and I own like 16+ watches! I even own a tiny little Casio F91W and a Casio A158W, the stainless cousin to the F91. These are SMALL! But guess what?? The stock strap on the F91 and the stock stainless band on the A158 at least can fit me! I can wear the A158 with just a little wiggle room and it still has a little bit of adjustment left to make it a tad larger still. Yet on this Seiko I have the band adjusted to maximum possible length and it's tight to the point it hurts to wear! Again I know I have large wrists, and I know this is a little on the small side BUT how can it not even fit when a Casio F91 does fit?!?!!? This is as tight maxed out as the Casio F91 is on the 3rd setting out with two holes to spare!! I have multiple "short" 18mm NATO straps that even fit me with a little room to spare! This stock bracelet is way to damn short!!! So here's the thing. I'm still giving this a 3 out of 5 and if the stock bracelet was a bit longer it would have got a 4 out of 5. That's good! Don't get me wrong here. The watch is very nice and I even heard the stock bracelet sucks and that many people buy these with the intention to swap it out immediately! Mine is accurate. I set it off my cell phones time when I got it and checked it 24 hours later. It's only seconds off if anything. That's awesome for any automatic as far as I'm concerned! Water resistance sucks but I really don't care about that one bit. I'm sure if I'm wearing it outside and it gets some rain on it worst case it would be fine. It gets a 3 out of 5 simply because of the stock bracelet length. Otherwise it's a sold 4 out of 5 and highly recommended for the price. I would recommend this to anyone with normal sized wrists in a heartbeat! Update: I have 8" wrists and as mentioned this model was too tight on max length. But today I bought a Seiko 5 SNK789 (another Seiko 5 with a metal band) and it fits with a little room to spare. So not all Seiko 5's with metal bands are the same size. If you have close to 8" wrist consider this.

A great watch, fits exactly like you should expect a 36-37mm diameter watch to fit. A little small compared to more modern watches, but definitely dressy/classy if that’s the look you’re going for. The polished finish of the case is mesmerizing and the bracelet’s finish is alright. The bracelet is one of the downsides of the watch because it has hollow end links and folded links throughout the rest of the bracelet. For the price though, this watch along with some of Seiko’s other Seiko 5 line of watches can’t be beat. The lume is great if the watch has had exposure to light throughout the day. The watch power reserve lasts approximately 30-35 hours if you are not wearing it for an extended period of time. Day is in english and french, with blue and red accents for Saturday and Sunday respectively. Skeleton back allows you to take a look at the mechanical movement which is a nice touch. Water resistance is low at 30m resistance, but that is to be expected of a watch like this. Overall, incredible value for the money.
