The all-in-one pet protection solution that maximizes the chances of finding lost pets. DOTT works 4X better than a microchip and enables owners to proactively search for their pet in the event it goes missing. Unlike traditional GPS trackers which can be power hungry, require a monthly subscription and charging every 1-3 days. DOTT is not a GPS tracker and it does not contain a battery-consuming GPS chip. If your pet is lost, 3 simple steps to increase chances of finding your pet: 1) Report your pet lost - DOTTpet’s in-app autotracking will be enabled, allowing the app to continuously scan for the signal of the DOTT tag. An in-app poster will be generated and show up on the map of all the users in the area. We will also advertise the lost pet poster and do targeted social media sharing in your neighborhood to recruit more helpers. 2) Walk or drive around to detect the DOTT tag signal - Every person who has the app can contribute a coverage of 85-standard basketball courts. Signals can be picked up even the phone or iPad is in a fast moving vehicle. The "Find Pet" feature provides DOTT tag owners with a way to check if their pet is nearby. The long battery life enables the tag to continuously emit a signal for up to 6 months. 3) Find more helpers - Users can expand their search network by inviting their friends and neighbors to aid in the search, allowing the search party to cover a lot of ground quickly  The DOTTpet app is also designed to simplify daily pet care:-Keep track of your pet’s daily walks, food intake, potty breaks, treats, medication & more -Track the duration and distance of walks to ensure your pet gets enough exercise-Share pet care responsibilities with caretakers and keep your pet's schedule intactCompatible with iOS device (iOS 9.3 or above) Important note: Android Beta is now available & DOTT is NOT a GPS tracker

Too soon to tell
This is a good concept but the product and its app are still in their infancy. I bought this because it has many positive reviews and it was a reasonable price, however now I am thinking the positive reviews are all given by people have yet to lose their pet while owning this device. As I started playing around with the app and tag I tagged my dog as 'lost' to see what the procedure would be as their website doesn't do a great job at explaining this. Basically, there is supposed to be a network of users and they can report if they've seen your dog or the tag will be tracked if it is in the vicinity of another DOTT user, they will also post a missing flier to social media pages. To me, I don't think this is extremely helpful as I don't think there are many users in my city, I'm not sure exactly how the bluetooth technology works but I would think there would be some way to track the dog as it passes phones with Bluetooth capabilities that don't have the DOTT app but this isn't available. There is a good range (350 ft) and a great battery life (6-9 months). Additionally you can track feedings and walks to see how much exercise your pet is getting, you can share photos with other care givers and you can also track water intake and medication (all useful tools if you have a dog walker and want to check up on your pet throughout the day). But, if your pet goes missing, it will show their last reported location, and it doesn't give you directions, it simply shows it on the map as a dot (another downfall in my eyes as I'm unsure how you would navigate to this spot). Lastly, I'm not sure this would work if you work and your pet stays home as you have to be within range to track their location, if you get home and your dog is gone it would just show their last location (which is your home obviously) unless their location pinged other users. However, the DOTT team is excellent and responds quickly. They've added my ideas to their proposed list so we'll see how this product develops. Overall, I think DOTT needs to make more videos clearly explaining how this product works and how the process of recovering a lost pet would work because as of right now I am still confused as to how that works.

Tracks activity not the pets location.
How is this a tracker? You have to report your pet lost and enter it’s last location. I’d doesnt actually show you where your pet is on a map. Returning this.

It doesn’t track the location of your dog!!!!!!
I am completely fuming with this! My dog was on the garden and he went out the house so I was going to track him down with the GPS and I realised that the one who tracked it was me! Gosh I spent so much on this virtual dog tag to realise that when I needed it the most it was terrible!

Only supported by Apple products
Once I unboxed the item and got the manual online I had seen that it's only supported with apple products, this should have been more prominently displayed before purchasing. Unfortunately I have to return this item since I have a Galaxy Note.

Updated: Love the product but stopped working right after the warranty ended.
Hi, this is a good product. It works as intended. Would have given more stars but it died in month 13 for no reason. Tracked my dog very well and was accurate to within feet when it worked. Even tracked her in our backyard as she exercised and played around. Cant ask for anything better than that. Until it suddenly stopped working in month 13 of use. I Tried replacing the battery as I did after about 6 months and nothing. I have reached out to the company to let them know of my dissatisfaction and am awaiting their response on a replacement unit. Lets see if Dott is a great company and backs their product. Fingers crossed. Will update when I receive their resolution proposal.1/26/19 update. Dott can through. They did what they said they were going to do. Stood by their product and sent me a replacement! Great company to work with.

Not a GPS tracker
The tag works a bit differently than what I expected. Basically it depends on proximity to track your pet. The device, when paired with a smart phone gives you in and out of range alerts. It doesn’t pinpoint the exact location of your pet, just notifies you when your pet is within a certain range. However, it's still is what I'm looking for.

Broke apart the first time using. It was on my dog's collar and we went for a walk. When we got home 15 mins later, I noticed the device broke in half. The battery and the other half of the tag were missing.
