Kenwood AT512 Folding Tool Attachment, X-Large, Black

I have had this item on my wish list for a long time, dithering about whether to purchase. It is expensive and had I paid the full price I may not have rated 5 stars, on value for money. However I succeeded in obtaining one at reduced price because of damaged packaging. Have already used it three times in 2 days. It folds flour and egg white in perfectly. Far better than I would do when there is a bowl full of mixture. Didn’t take any air out at all and I have produced 2 wonderful Swiss rolls and a beautifully risen soufflé. If you do a lot of baking I would certainly recommend.

This utensil for the larger Kenwood stand mixers I think should really be included in the standard set. I find it invaluable for folding in flour after the beating stage, or folding in inclusions like dried fruit. I guess most people either do that stage by hand, or use the K-beater at low speeds, which will work, but is harsh. This blade is an incredibly clever shape and with the planetary motion folds things in to the creamed mixture very quickly and delicately, using a cutting and sweeping motion, similar to using a large metal spoon, which is what I'd use if doing it by hand. So it leaves the air in the creamed mixture where it's supposed to be. OK, you then end up with two utensils to clean, but this is the easiest to wash of the entire set, certainly no more difficult than the dough hook, few seconds and it's done.

This attachment makes it so easy to fold ingredients together. This afternoon I made a rich fruit cake and, using the attachment, it was really easy to fold all the of 2kg of ingredients together. The cake has risen like never before, so air was definitely left in the mixture! Highly recommended.

I have found this attachment very useful, as l used to fold in flour by hand as l found using the mixer knocked out air That l wanted to keep in the mix. This attachment fold in flour without loosing the air needed for a lighter cake.

It worked well, but not sure that the cost of it is justified.

Wrong size

Great to help folding mix (if like me you are heavy handed) could be a bit cheaper but overall pleased with product. Easy to washup / clean. fits Kenwood as described.
