Big and rugged enough to not be accused of carrying a man purse.
I originally bought this bag as an on the go every day gadget bag. Now that I have it I will say it's too big for that use unless you're on your feet all day and need a bag to carry a lot of gadgets with a large laptop. There's a few things I would do to improve the bag; like adding a place to attach a shoulder strap, adding an option to close and secure the wet pouches on the sides of the bag. I almost never carry a water bottle or umbrella so I use the side pouches to carry my folded up headphones and a Eagle Creek Travel Gear Pack-It Sac, Small, filled with small adapters and charging cables. For as big as the bag is I think the two front compartments should have been deeper. I use the top one for a small backup battery and my Wifi hotspot and I struggle to close the zipper. I think the inside of the bag could have used more (smaller) compartments, and a cable pass-through to the front compartments for charging while on the go.I understand it's a tote bag and that's what I'm using it for. It's just a very nice looking bag and I needed something to carry my gadgets. The selling point for me was the ability to hide the backpack straps. I've attached a shoulder strap to the bag without modifying the bag and it's comfortable to carry when I have a light load and don't need to use it as a backpack. The two handles on the top of the bag are made very well and are comfortable to use when carrying a medium to heavy load. The bag is balanced very well and you feel it while using the handles. My only nit-pick is the two handles flop around like handles on a women's pocket book. I'm not the only one who noticed it and if the bag wasn't so big and rugged looking I would be accused of carrying a man purse.I wish I got the bag directly from Tumi because they are offering free engraving on the small leather badge on the front of the bag. By the way it's the same price on their website. This is my second Tumi bag, my other one is a smaller bag called the Alpha 2 Medium Travel Tote. I carry my Dell Venue 11 pro with attached keyboard and other small gadgets in this bag. It's my everyday on the go bag and when I'm carrying more I put the Alpha 2 inside of the Alpha Bravo with my larger laptop and other equipment. It's a nice fit and allows me to be very versatile, it's also very very, comfortable to carry a heavy load using the backpack straps. After getting this bag I tried 3 other bags with similar features from other manufactures but they all lacked the quality, style, and comfort of carrying this Tumi bag.

My new travel companion
The perfect travel bag. Big, strong, sturdy, grown-up and (dare I say) fashionable. It works nice as a carry-on bag and fits neatly under the airplane seat. It definitely stands out in a crowd of excessively-technical backpacks (ie north face). It is indeed long (and wide: when the side pockets are occupied), so it may not be suitable for smaller body frames; I personally love the length. One complaint: I wish there was more padding under the laptop compartment, to better protect my computer. But overall: I'm VERY happy with this purchase. Especially at this price (just checked today: the high-end travel stores are selling this for $475!!).

One big pocket
I bought the bag for a computer/briefcase. The bag has one huge pocket in the middle with 2 small dividers on both ends. It has several small pocket around the outside, but 90 % of the bag is one huge open pocket. Totally useless for organization. Build quality looks good, but it won't work for me. Returning.

OUCH!!!
I really wanted to love this backpack. Overall the appearance was great. I purchased the anthracite (grey) for business travel. I wanted a professional look while hopefully reducing back pain while traveling. The only thing I was really happy with was the style/appearance. There were just too many negatives to keep this- Overall it is much larger than I expected. I'm a 5'3'' female. This bag came down past my butt. It really is sized for a man or tall woman. It's heavy! All the metal on the bag looks nice but really adds a lot of unnecessary weight. The main compartment of the bag has a divider for a laptop and a smaller divider for an ipad other than that it is just one really really big and deep open pocket. I felt like I was digging forever to find anything. And the big negative that caused me to return it- on the backside of the bag there is a weird hard leather loop with a snap on it. It closes the compartment where you can hide the backpack straps. I had read other complaints about this but thought it couldn't be that bad. It IS! It is absolutely terrible. That hard snap aligns perfectly with your spine at the base of your neck. With any weight in the bag in hits on your spine. I actually had a small bruise after using the bag one time. Totally unacceptable for something at this price point. Back it went.

Made to last and makes a great statement
I waited a couple of months before writing a review because I figured I would let my husband tell me whether he's happy or not with his new backpack. Well, I must add that you have to consider pros and cons. Others have writer wonderful reviews. I, from my part and my husband's satisfaction, can tell that this bag is worth every penny! His previous bag cost him about $150 and it's all canvas. And the zipper busted within its first few uses. This bag has leather handles, great zippers and plenty of room. He still travels but not as frequently and this bag offers plenty of room. He's 6'4" and backpacks need to work well for him. I'm happy. He's happy. I will buy again.

Best ever
This is an excellent laptop backpack. It holds a lot of stuff and looks good too. It is extremely comfortable to carry especially on your back. The compartments and zips are well made.

gran compra
