It's the biz.
Added these to a slide out drawer in my RV. Somewhat tricky to install (a puzzle that had to be solved, but I'm not an expert with these things), but once in, it works as expected. Sturdy and action is smooth. Nothing cheap about these and I'm looking for more drawers to add this.

Sturdy, stable, very happy
I used these to convert a chest to a lift-top coffee table. We had two goals, access the chest contents without clearing items off the lid and create a table top as a desk or eating surface.Installation was challenging because I could not access the inside of the chest to align or access screw holes to ensure alignment of the closed top. I ended up creating a jig to make templates for the screw holes. This is not an issue with the hinge, just a reality of the situation if you can't get under the closed top. If you can access the underside of the top when closed, then the project will be easy. I also had to reinforce the chest with inserts and mount the hinges to the inserts. Again, not an issue with the hinge, I just had not considered the strength of the build of the chest. The top opens easily. The gas shocks lift the top effortlessly. You need to close it purposefully with two hands, otherwise it can slam shut when closing. Once open, the table top is strong and stable. I was prepared to add a cross brace (many reviewers said it was needed) but no brace was needed.I was concerned that it might not open high enough, but it's a good height for the chest. You can sit at the couch and use a desk or table. An inch or two more might have been nice, but might also add instability. There is plenty of room to access chest contents when open. I would definitely buy again.

Works great needs instructions
Product works great but without installation instructions a bit of trial and error is required for installation.

Definitely a good purchase!
The media could not be loaded. I installed these by myself using a drill and #8 3/4 multi purpose screws. I built a solid oak coffee table and have been wanting a lift top for a while. I did have to do extensive measuring to make sure everything lined up and that the table top was level. I attached the hinges to the inside of the box of my coffee table first and then laid the wood on top, making sure it was level, and marked the points to put the screws in on the underside. I ended up removing the pneumatic do-hicky (not sure what that's called) using a socket wrench and that made it much easier to screw from the underside. It is more sturdy than I thought it would be and it goes up and down very smoothly. These hinges are supporting a 39"x16" piece of solid oak and I can lift it up and down with one hand no problem...haven't had too much issue with twisting. I am an amateur furniture maker, so I feel pretty good about the finished product. Definitely a good purchase! Just make sure to measure the hinges before making your design-- I made that mistake and had to go out for more red oak after realizing these hinges didn't have enough clearance. Oh well, you live and learn! You can watch the video to see the hinges in action.

Not sure, I have never gotten them to work.
They feel really well made for an inexpensive Chinese product. Just don't take the gas strut off as they are compressed before being installed and I don't have anyway to compress them enough to put them back on. Equally frustrating is in order to screw in the top, you have to screw around the strut...which is why I took them off only to discover I was never getting them back on.

Doesnt come with #8 screws. Perfect for my footrest/drink holder and dvd storage box!
After reading some reviews that these hinges were not perfectly straight, I was a little bit skeptical but other reviews with pictures convinced me that I needed them.Installing them was a bit of a pain of trial and error but after a while I got it figured out. How i did it: held closed hinge on the left interior side of box, top bracket piece flush with the top of my box and up against the back side. Marked and drilled pilot holes and then secured it in place with #8 1/2" wood screws. (Repeated procedure for other hinge)With both hinges now secured to the box sides, i then placed my upholstered mdf wood lid on the top of the raised hinge brackets. While laying on my back, I used two strips of 2" thick exterior masking tape that i cut to run the length of the hinges. I applied half to the hinge and half the lid board. I was then able to press the lid down and close it. When in the closed position, the lid wasn't completely square with my box so I repeated this procedure until I got it right. While on my back i was then able to hold the lid and secure it in place with 3 screws per side.Works like a charm.

Awesome hinges
The media could not be loaded. These pull/lift up hinges worked perfectly for me. As some of the other reviews had mentioned, the pair was not perfectly aligned (and one of the hinges stays closed without weight but the other doesn't), but once mounted in my homemade liquor cabinet, they worked just fine.Mine were 13" long when fully closed and about 4" deep and ~1" wide. Installation is a lot easier if the back/base of whatever you're installing into is open. Just flip the base onto the door/table top with the hinges ziptied shut and then get the hinges situated where you want it and screw them in. Couple of the holes won't be accessable until after you open it back up, at which point you can finish screwing the base in. I used #8 x 1/2" self drilling wood screws to mount the hinges into 1" (.75" actual) pine. Also, for those wondering, the hinges will remain closed even when mounted vertically, provided the door is heavy enough. I've got .75"x 16.5" x 24" of pine and that was heavy enough to keep the pistons/hinges closed. The piston action is nice and smooth, too, when opening and closing it from the middle of the door. Comes out about 5 inches and up 10.
