The Art of Frozen: (Frozen Book, Disney Books for Kids )

The media could not be loaded.  For my first review I've decided upon a book quite recent... "The Art of Frozen".But I have to warn you that if you don't like spoilers you must first watch the movie and then read the book. That's important.... oh how I hate spoilers.We can begin by talking about the author. Every book written by Solomon is impressive.Now for the cover art. It isn't that bad, but there are books with nicer and artistic covers. this one seems like the two characters, Anna and Elsa, are twins and it relates Elsa to some ice-type environment? But Anna to some jungle ... all that green? Awkward. Knowing about all the beautiful illustrations inside the book I would expect a different cover picture.But upon opening the book, what can we see. We have an introduction and some explanations about the original story until it became the story we know. there are lots of pages with dark background, which is strange for a book based on a movie with light blue colors, snow, northern places.... I would prefer lighter colors. The book has a lot of storyboards, which is interesting to realize all the differences from the movie. Next we can marvel upon the architecture, a few color studies and some clothing that came to inspire the movie style.I personally prefer seeing character drawings and designs. Fortunately the movie has enough for us to treat ourselves with some character art. Although there are some sketches and expression poses regarding Elsa and Anna that they could've given more relevance.We've seen a lot about how the characters were before they turned into their final versions and how much different Elsa's hair was, it had kind of a Mohawk which is interesting i guess. I'm just glad they've changed it...honestly.Then there's reference to the song clip "love is an open door" near the end of the book...why is that I don't know nor I understand.But long story short, it's a great and important book, seeing that frozen was one of the most money making animated movies recently. The movie is gorgeous and so is the book.In my opinion there are too much pages with storyboards and I would've changed them for some character art.the art studies and background designs are all there, the characters design are there, the visual is there... it's a great book. There's a lot more pro's rather than cons and if you're a fan of the movie just go ahead and buy it! And even if you aren't but enjoy animation, it's a really cool book to own. I bought this because I was bowled over by the sheer beauty of the look of this film, the rendition of the characters and Queen Elsa's ice palace in particular. The book covers the drawing and development of Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and the other characters, costume & fabric concepts, various aspects of conceptual artwork (royal banners, the crocus theme etc), locations, the town, the castle and the digital development of paintings of snow and ice. It shows the extraordinary lengths the Disney crew went to in order to get this film to look as good as it does. The team went to Norway and from this adopted a form of rosemaling (decorative painting) to support the look of the film and had what amounted to a crash course in meteorology so as to better understand ice and snowflakes. If you want to see how artists and technicians come together to create a finished product, to understand the sheer amount of application and ingenuity, the insight and understanding of what makes a great visual product, then this book is for you. A thoroughly informative and enjoyable read in a quality hardback binding. Highly recommended.

My obsession with this film has gone to a whole new level, I generally buy the art books for most of the disney films, but over the last few my interest has dwindled, this book however has re-kindled my love of the process. It's so amazing seeing the transition of simple doodles step by step bring to life a new disney icon. This book is beautiful, the colours and detail are stunning, and all the aspects covered will leave you satisfied.

I found this book a very interesting read...it shows you how much hard work and research goes into making such an amazing movie, the Norweign designs, the difficulty working with snow and ice, the storyline development etc.Like other people have said I was hoping for more images of Elsa and Anna, more pages with final designs, images from the movie etc, Hence why I gave 4 stars instead of five but it's still a great book to own as a huge fan of the movie!

Bought as a birthday gift for DH to add to his growing collection.of Art of Disney books. He is a big Frozen fan and it was greatly recieved. Brilliant quality as always and has been very helpful for art reference.

Bafta award winning film with a cracking soundtrack, presented here is the concept art for the film. Providing a history of the film and stunning drawings, the book is a visual treat for those interested in Disney art. Interesting seeing Elsa with black hair and the almost identical architecture rendering of the buildings of those visited during the preparation phase of the film.Highly recommended!

Un libro con todos los detalles del arte de la película. En inglés. A mi hija le encantan estos libros y el que estén en inglés le obliga a leer en ese idioma. Son muy completos y caerán más de otros títulos.
