We keep this book in the car and it makes long journeys feel much shorter. Great way to encourage my young son to read as he loves to read out the riddles for us to guess. I think it’s also been good for his brain development in terms of problem-solving and lateral thinking. I’m sure it will help him think about crossword solving when he’s a bit older. Lovely little book and good to get for somebody who is either at the age of being read to or able to read for themselves. It’s also a good one to send as a gift if you don’t know what somebody Is into reading as I would say this is probably has broad appeal for boys and girls.

Just a book. Kids had a bit on attention on it and now it is on the shelf. It is a very basic print.

This was a hit and kept us entertained for ages. The nice thing is that the child has the answers rather than the adults so kids get to feel clever. Many of the riddles work well and are relevant to kids but also tricky even for adults (until you hear the answers, and then they are easy!). There is mixed quality in the questions though, with most of the best ones coming in the first section. Some, particularly in later sections, are weak or a repetition of previous ideas. 8 yr old girl enjoyed it lots. I think it's best suited to ages 8 to 13.

Gift for my son and he loved it

I've read maybe half so far (according to Kindle) but as of course up to half the book consists of the Answers I've nearly finished it. Pace yourself as it can be addictive.I did pretty well, and you get better as you go on, once your lateral-thinking braincells have warmed up.Some riddles aren't worded well enough for there to be only one answer. It's fundamental in quizzes, cryptic crosswords, riddles and suchlike that there should be no ambiguities and, as per Afrit's Law "You need not mean what you say, but you must say what you mean." So far I've noticed 30 riddles where 10 need a minor tweak, 20 need a major tweak; that's a high percentage out of the 100 riddles advertised.Also there are repeats, so it's not really 100 riddles :-) Two riddles go to the wrong answer, so far no.72 and one in the 100s, there may be more - the proof-reading/editing wasn't good enough.I like having it on Kindle as you merely click the Answer link, then the Return to the Question link.A few riddles are more basic wordplay jokes e.g. a favourite from my youth decades ago that I loved seeing again "What orange and sounds like a parrot?" And one or two should be in a different section e.g. in more difficult rather than easy and vice versa.Publisher and author/compiler: please edit and issue a corrected version AND make sure you edit thoroughly before publishing.

I am a teacher and this book has been my go to resource to give the kids an intriguing question to begin our Virtual Learning day in the time of COVID-19. It has been very enjoyable seeing the variety of answers the kids have come up with and the development of their thinking.Having had a look at some of the other reviews I will briefly address some of them to help make future purchasers better informed:The title says "for smart kids" so no, there won't be MENSA-level adult/GCHQ questions."No illustrations"; correct, 300 word riddles which the kids enjoy repeating and challenging their friends/parents/grandparents etc. with too."Riddles that could have been searched for on the internet"; possibly, but if you have this you don't have to go searching for them.In short, enjoyable word riddles to get the neurons firing.

This book was bought as a gift for my 10 year old sister. She loves it, there are various riddles and puzzles that stump even myself!This bool is perfect for a rainy day, stimulating your brain on the commute to work or even hustlin' your friends down at your local!This book is perfect for people of all ages
