Stop scrolling..THIS IS IT! I’ve tried other creams but nothing beat this one. I did not feel a thing during my entire 2 1/2 hr session. I exfoliated the area then applied a generous amount and covered it with clingy wrap for 4 hrs before my tattoo. 10000% recommend this product .

I have been working on a sleeve and when it came time to do my hand I was concerned about the pain and looked into options beyond just the bactine (that can't be used until after the skin is broken). I decided to try this out and it's been a big help! For my hand, it basically ended up meaning I didn't feel anything when my artist was doing the initial linework. I felt a bit when he did the black and white and shading, but it really took the edge off. I did feel it majorly when he got to the color since it was generally a painful spot, but I was able to talk through it (which I normally could not do by that point), and combined with the bactine spray I did really well.My artist (who has been tattooing me for a decade and knows how my skin reacts and also knows how much of a baby I can be about the pain) was really impressed with the fact that my skin did not swell at all. The lack of swelling was key, because I think we probably would have had to stop and let it heal before we went back in for the color otherwise. I have used it since on other parts of my sleeve (including my fingers!!) and it's made a huge difference. It definitely doesn't make it a pain free experience, but it makes getting through the first layer virtually pain free and really takes the edge off the rest--plus even if it did nothing for the pain (which it does), the lack of swelling makes a major difference in the whole process, including healing. I will definitely purchase this again.Other reviewers have noted that you really need to lay it on thick, which I concur. When I've used it, I have put it on really thick, covered that part of my body in saran wrap (or when I did my had I used a glove), and then left it on while I grabbed brunch (or whatever mealtime it is, since I fully pass out if I don't eat before a big tattoo), since you really need to leave it on an hour or two to get the full effect. It's become a bit of a pre-tattoo ritual. I might feel like a wimp for using it if I was really keeping score, but the reduction in swelling really does help with healing and also makes it possible to keep tattooing longer before my skin is too raw and swollen to take more, so it's actually impacted the quality of my tattoos too!

A few months ago I went and had the rough outline of my whole back tattoo done, and it did not feel good haha. I just went back today to do more work and wanted to try out numbing cream and decided on this one since the reviews were pretty good and the price wasn’t too bad.I followed the directions on the back exactly and let me tell you I felt almost nothing for 3 hours. My back was completely numb, there were a few tiny spots that weren’t numb but that was probably my fault for not coating those spots as good. This product is definitely worth it, I could have sat for longer today it was still numb and not wearing off but my tattoo artist only had time for 3 hours.There is one problem though that I have to mention, number one the bottle it came in was damaged a little, when I went to open it there was numbing cream all over on the inside of the cap. Second issue was I only left the numbing cream on my skin and wrapped for about an hour, this was because I felt this weird stinging sensation on my back, I ended up unwrapping and wiping my back in case I was having a reaction to it. I definitely was because I had a little bit of red irritated spots. I ended up washing off the numbing cream with a bunch soap on a wash cloth multiple times but at that point I was totally numb. I think I must have caught the reaction in time because my back is fine but I should have tested out this product instead of doing it right before the tattoo. I read some of the bad reviews on this product about the new formula being tan/brown and causing reactions, mine was tan in color and did cause a slight reaction so I might look into a different brand for my next session but overall giving a 4 because it worked like a charm I had almost no pain or feeling while being tattooed but it caused a slight reaction for me that luckily disappeared quickly.
