You don't have to be vegan to take off on this food and nutrition adventure
This is a game changer. Over the years, I've been vegetarian, omnivore, pescatarian, tried endless different diets everything from cabbages to kings, this book really gives readers the opportunity to create their own nutritarian lifestyle - not a fad, a whole new perspective and lens on food, eating, cooking, health. For me, it goes hand in hand with Michael Gregor MD (How not to Die), William Li MD (Eat to Beat Disease),plus all the web content these guys and others have uploaded to educate not just palates but our whole approach to how to cook (ie no oil sauteing, water instead, beaut food combinations like cacao and avocado and dates etc for chocolate pudding.)I got to the point where I was eating healthily (supposedly) and getting bored stiff of eating.I looked through the book for the 1st time last night, was salivating uncontrollably every other page, mentally ticking off recipe after recipe I wanted to try - AND adapt. There's no recipe fascism here - as DR Fuhrman says, "just use the veggies you have in the fridge", leaving room for experimentation and improv. When you buy this book, get ready to retrain your cooking repertoire, the salad dressings are mind bending, so cool, (thai peanut sauce was just out of this world), loads of desserts, no sugar, and loads of cacao yummies) You need to grow this approach to eating and cooking, it isn't going to work off the bat. This is like a wake up call to your to your kitchen, body, mind and shopping habits - plus the most accessible and attractive route to veganism I've encountered. Again, MDs Gregor and Li, take a similar and resonant path. You don't have to go vegan to enjoy this book, there are some omnivore recipes too, and Dr Fuhrman doesn't say you gotta give this stuff up, it's just about balance and moderation and choice.Fabulicious, delish-ious, scrumptious and even more-ish. Chocolate pud for breakfast this morning - indulgent and nutrient dense!!!!

Game changer
The only thing that prevents this from being a five star review is the fact that the recipes do rely on the Dr's own product range for seasoning. Fortunately I am able to improvise with my own herb and spice collection. Otherwise I love this book. The results I have achieved are often stunning - for example the pears poached in pomegranate juice with chocolate sauce and raspberry coulis - I have never, ever been a dessert person and have never been very good at making them. But this was a restaurant quality hit - totally delicious! I have moved on to Joel Fuhrman's books following a Reboot With Joe, and the combination of these books has been a game changer for me. Having been experiencing increased migraine activity due to food sensitivities, since juicing and cooking with these recipes, I have not had one migraine. In addition, these recipes have helped convert my meat oriented partner easily to eating 'vegan' the majority of the time. We both feel significantly better and much healthier. Worth the investment and effort in creating these recipes.

Nutirtarian cookbook with few pictures
This book is quite interesting, the author discusses the value of different foods based on their nutritional density. This is primarily a recipe book which backs up an earlier book that I thought I’d ordered so it is probably better to read the “Eat to Live” book first as this one doesn’t go into much detail about the Eat to Live approach. It is American with all measurements in cups etc. As a cook book it is disappointing as there aren’t very many pictures and the recipes vary a great deal regarding portions, for example some smoothie recipes are for one, an oatmeal recipe for three and a morning soup recipe for six! The author does try to flog his own products in some of the recipes, such as an orange creamsicle blended salad that requires 3tbsp of Dr Fuhrman’s blood orange vinegar! The recipe offers no alternative. Having said that there are plenty of recipes which don’t require anything special to make. If you’re looking for a low fat vegan type book then you might find this a bit too nut and seed heavy, but it is oil free and pro unprocessed. I think I found some of the Eat To Live blogs more inspiring than this book as I like the visuals to inspire me. I’m going to buy the original book now!

Eat to Live
Words fail me this was the best book ever written 5 years ago when I started healthy eating, the soup recipes, the sauce recipes are great, I have lost 4 half stone in 2 years and still losing weight gradually. My eyesight has improved so much that within two years I won't need glasses, it's because of all the raw juices and green smoothies full of spinach, kale and fruit that I consume EVERYDAY.The 80/20 rule here, if you want a small piece of chocolate then have it or a glass of wine, but follow the book and it's important to read it from cover to cover so you understand what all the benefits are from this marvellous book.

Its a life changer!
I've found it very interesting and have followed many of the recepies. Some of the ingredients are niy on impossible to find here but I've managed to find substitutes. The criticism I have really are the US measurements and the quatities, many are for 6-8 people. However there's no doubt if you follow his ideas you'll look and feel the difference.

Interesting
Good book, interesting plant based recipes.Only a few photos available in the centre of the book.I did not find them appealing. There is better photography in the Quick and Easy Eat to Live book.Love that the recipes all have a nutritional breakdown.

good and usually yummy
Not all the recipes lead to very tasty meals, but most of them do and those good results are really yummy. It's clear and precise, offering instructions on how to manage some vegetables one might have never tried before. Some recipes have too many ingredients and are discouraging and some ingredients are hard to find, but it still is ok.

Some great recipes; some that I would not make myself ...
Some great recipes; some that I would not make myself but all in all it has been useful. Almost worth it for the avocado chocolate pudding recipe alone which is a very healthy chocolate mousse-type recipe that tastes at least as good as the sugar and fat laden version!
