Littmann Electronic Stethoscope Model 3100, Black Tube

Hi Everybody.Some 25 years ago I had an electronic steph well was OK, but sound was naff, so went back to the old bell & tube system. Anyway saw this and was eager to try the latest version to see if they have improved.switched on and put it to my chest -- after a couple of seconds I needed no more convincing sound is crystal clear loud even on the lowest setting I can hear noises that were inaudible before.Now will give it a good workout, but i am sure this will be the primary scope for me, some ambient noise, but nothing to worry about and you can always tell the people around you to shut up LOL.A really fine bit of kit well worth the money.

Haven't been using this for very long so I can't comment on the battery life or lifespan of the product, but it is a Littmann and that speaks for itself. However, if you're hearing impaired and you regularly need to auscultate: This is the steth you are looking for. The ability to dial up the volume on heart sounds (and I mean really dial it up; I use a hearing aid and at full volume it's bordering on too loud) has been absolutely life changing for me, as has being finally able to confidently take a BP reading. The ambient noise suppression is also a God-send on busy wards and noisy clinics. Add in the great little feature of getting an automatic HR reading on the digital display as you auscultate, and you have an absolutely invaluable piece of equipment. I really don't have enough good things to say about this stethoscope - worth every penny.

I was struggling on placement with my hearing impairment with basic stethoscopes, trying to balance the need to keep my hearing aids in whilst using a standard stethoscope. I then reviewed this specifically for hearing impairments so was delighted with the product itself as you can use additionally with your aids still in the ear. It is expensive but at least you are now on a level playing field and can function well even in an ITU setting. I was however disappointed to find that having paid over £200 for something which was desperately needed, no carrying case is provided. Colleagues lucky enough to manage with much cheaper "normal" models are provided with cases to protect heir stethoscopes, whereas this just comes in a cardboard box - surely we have paid enough to merit a case!!

Excellent sound quality. Only complaint is that the rubber diaphragm easily falls off and may be lost

I though my 3000 has started to fail and bought this new model. The model is amazing in the sense of isolating your ears form environmental noises. Most of the time you can use it over the patients clothes so I saves time. The sound is crisp and I heart sound are really clear. It saves time as it counts the heart rate.I hope it will last as long as my 3000, which I later discover just needed to tension the earpieces as is still working ok.Price is my only objection as in amazon is around 300 but on ebay I found it at 260 with free laser engraving and free delivery

This works only intermittently. Unfortunately it will cut out and switch off randomly and often does not switch back on when you press the on button rendering it extremely frustrating and almost completely useless at times.

This is my second electronic Littmanns and i would recommend it without hesitation. It enables users to clearly hear breath sounds which are difficult to detect with a normal stethoscope. I am also able to clearly hear heart sounds with this. An invaluable item for anyone struggling with a normal stethoscope - the difference is immense.
