This is a magical book, with a beautiful cover, that will appeal to Beauty and the Beast fans of all ages. Jennifer Donnelly has brought to life the well- loved story with the cursed castle, enchantments and wonderfully quirky characters and given it her own twist. Here Belle is enticed into the pages of an enchanted book named Nevermore, planted in the castle library. Nevermore is a place where her deepest desires will come true, but things are not always what they seem.This author is able to turn her hand to both adult and children’s stories and my children enjoy her books as much as I do. This story is cleverly woven and filled with imagination. I loved her vivid new characters (and creatures) especially the sisters Love and Death who are able to observe the castle through an enchanted mirror. I would really love to see this made into a Disney animation or film. A treat for anyone who likes fairy-tales and a little bit of magic.

This book is kind of like a behind the scenes of Belle's life in the enchanted castle. It has all of the original characters with some new ones along the way too. It has parts from both the 1991 and 2017 movies, which makes it so much more enjoyable.I bought this book because Beauty and the Beast is my favourite Disney movie, I was so excited to read it and I was not disappointed. The way it was written had me hooked, it has short chapters and makes you want to keep turning the pages to see what happens next.Whilst reading this book I laughed, cried and at times I felt scared for Belle, which shows that Jennifer Donnelly writes in a way that really connects with her readers. It's lovely to have a more in-depth look into what life would have been like for Belle and all the other characters.I would recommend that everyone who enjoyed the movies read this book, to be honest I think everyone should read it because it's just that good.

This book was such a fairytale, and it felt like I could be reading the original Beauty and the Beast. Jennifer made the characters and the story her own; so much so that it could have been her that created it all.Jennifer managed to get all the characters from Disney's Beauty and the Beast perfectly accurate - I could hear their voices and picture them so easily. The story was also a brilliant one; it was well written, well thought out and incredibly interesting. Despite knowing, as the reader, that Belle shouldn't get lost in the book, the writing of Madame Comtesse was so convincing that part of me wanted her to stay. I feel like this book was a welcomed extension of the original tale, and part of me wishes we could have it as a Disney animated film as well!Jennifer has done the original story proud with this wonderful piece of art.

I picked this up as I had seen it often, and wondered how it would put a twist on Disney's version. Beauty and the Beast was always my favourite animation, and this narrative fits in nicely with the core story. Although, I don't think Belle would have acted as she did in this story at times, it was still a nice, quick read. It would appeal to any age, and plays with the idea of 'getting lost in a book'. Definitely one for bookworms! And, of course, fans of the films.

The book itself is beautiful. The story actually does the original story justice. i read this book in a day. would recommend

This is one of the best books I have read in a while. It grips you at page one and it’s one of those books that you can almost see the characters and their expressions.The whole family has read it including my 9yr old and 15 yr old and we all loved it. I highly recommend this book to all Disney fans of all ages.
