Q: Does this get dogs to stop barking longterm? Meaning they learn that they shouldn't bark and you will eventually no longer need this device.

Let’s put it this way - it worked on both our dogs - a puppy and a 13-year old - for a day. After that, when the older dog barks I just need to pick the device up and he’ll stop barking. There was no impulse control learned and there still is no impulse control but at least he stops when I pick it up. The puppy (he was 9 months old when I got the device and is now 10 months old) totally ignores it. After the first day he could care less about it! He barks like crazy (puppyhood and being a hound mix - I think I’m doomed!).

Q: Will this work to stop my dog from barking at another dog while walking with the dog?

All I can say is that it worked with my older dog but not the younger puppy. And, it did not work at distances very well - I gave a huge yard and the dogs bark like crazy men at neighbor dogs - too far to the corner of my yard for it to work on either dog.

Q: Can I use this for my neighbors barking dog without effecting mine?

Your dog will very likely hear the Bark Begone device. We recommend you use it first with your dog for any basic training command with lots of positive reinforcement (praise, rewards, petting) so they have no negative reaction to the device when it’s used on the neighboring dog, as you would not want to startle them.
