Fourth studio album by Weezer and self-produced by the band, Maladroit was quickly certified Gold by the RIAA after its release. The cover art was chosen from a contest ran through the band s website. Weezer asked for submissions and their favorite of these was chosen as the cover art seen today. Reissued on 120g vinyl with standard jacket and 12x12 insert. Review: I was only familiar with the one song from this band prior to listening to this album - This album was recommended to me by a few people and I watched a youtube of one of my favourite gaming personalities on music they enjoyed besides metal music which also recommended it. I can say that those were valid recommendations. This is a great album. Having only known this band for a single song, (which I would not say is that representative actually) I would consider listening to Wheezer's wider catalogue of tunes. There great rocking guitars, drums and vocals, it has a nice upbeat character to it and felt it was something I could bear to listen to on repeat during a long drive or play in the background while I am reading, gaming, studying, doing housework or working on something. Recommended. Review: Five Stars - best weezer album.

Strongest album to date?
Maladroit, Weezers fourth offering, is certainly a much stronger album than their previous Green Album. Don't get me wrong, the green album was brilliant itself, yet maladroit sees weezer really showing the fans what they are capable of. In general its a much more evolved sound, the songs cover a wide range of styles (each with a unique weezer twist of course)and are incredibly well constructed. We get to hear weezer do that oh so catchy pop rock they do so well, particularly in the form of Dope Nose which easily surpasses Hash Pipe. Yet we also get to hear rock (Take Control), punk (Possibilities), emo (Death and Destruction) and more mellow sounds (Burndt Jamb and Keep Fishin').And of course everyone is able to indentify with River's sentiment.Although maladroit is not as easily accessible as the green album, with listening you will find it a far deeper and much more rewarding album. If you enjoyed the green album yet always throught there was something just underneath itching to be let out then this album will not dissapoint. Weezer are truly realising their full potential, and theres still that feeling that even better material is yet to come. Yet I would still always direct any weezer fans to their debut Blue Album which i still consider thier finest work, yet whether this is truley the case or simply sentiment i can not say. But one thing is for sure, if the Blue Album is not thier best, then Maladroit certainly is.

their best
this album is less immediate than any of it's predecessors, and this could explain some of the hasty negative reviews on this site. it doesn't help that the album gets off to a slowish start with the unspectacular "american gigolo". "dope nose" is the real album opener, but it is followed by "keep fishin'" which perhaps should have been put somewhere in the middle of the album. however, the band then manage to sustain an amazing run of 8 brilliant songs in a row. "take control" is an instant classic, just pure, heavy guitar pop with a catchy metal riff that was made for air guitar. "death and destruction" is a slower number with some excellent guitar soloing halfway through. "slob" "slave" and "space rock" are all edgy pop songs, the latter being the best song on the whole album despite seeming unremarkable on first listen. in between those is "burnt jamb" which deserves a mention for it's funky riffs and nagging melody. "fall together" and "possibilities" are probably the two catchiest songs on the album, the former could have been on pinkerton. after that the pace slows down. "love explosion" should soar, but it never really gets off the ground, and "december" is a nice way to round things off. but of course someone just had to put "island in the sun" on the end of it. i'd say it just edges pinkerton as their best album. the quality is the same, so maladroit wins by virtue of having more tracks.

It's almost like the Green Album never was
Harking back to their Pinkerton days, the self-produced 4th album is indeed, as promised, a lot more rock than Green was. Although the inclusion of Island in the Sun as a bonus track does seem to link it back to the last album, Island was always a stand out track on Green, and mixes well with the slower, more emo-like tracks on the album (Death & Destruction, Burndt Jamb). The album has a full range of styles, unlike all the previous albums; from the aforementioned emo, to the darker, heavier Take Control and Slob (a summer 2k song) through to the upbeat but still rockin' Dope Nose, Fall Together etc, which makes up the majority of the album. The playing styles on the new album are vastly different as well. Pat's druming is supreme, Rivers and Brian seem much less controlled and much more expressive. And Scott isn't Matt, isn't Mikey; he's all new and all class - the level of rock he brings into =W= is immeasurable. If the album has one failing, it's the sheer level of cheesy vocal support - the "woah woah"s and "ooh-ooh"s get TOO much at times, but having said that they're steadily growing on me. But, only Weezer fans tend to buy Weezer records (good job there's plenty of 'em :) ), and no Weez fan should be missing this.

I am least ashamed to buy Maladroit than I am of any other album, For reasons I won't explain here. It arrived on time and in one piece which was great, Not so great for my XO Elliott Smith Jewel case though. "American Gigolo" is a dumb name and an awful song, "Slob" I dont want to listen to more than once, the rest aren't bad. Of the remaining tracks, "Burnt Jamb", "Dope Nose", "Keep Fishing" and "Take Control" are the ones I remember fondly without relistening; "Possibilities" is a good one too. This came out in 2002 so YMMV as far as thrilling discussions go surrounding its sound. Adult Weezer fans are probably pushing 30+ now, but this is still a fond memory for me.

Also zugreifen, Leute!
