Very good for the price.
These are not whole pig ears. Most piece are strips 1" to 1 1/2" wide and 3 -4" long. You do however get some bits from the bottom part of the ear that are more of a lump, with a few hairs attached. In addition, they do not appear to have been coloured in anyway, so come in various shades form darker brown to reddish beige. Some dogs foods are treated to look and smell appealing to humans. These are not, the smell isn't very strong, but they are a bit greasy, as one would expect, and I always wash my hands right after feeding. On the plus side, both of my dogs enjoy these. The male is exceptionally fussy. This is a dog that will leave beef steak in his dish if it doesn't strike his fancy, or turn his nose up at chicken breast because he had it the night before and doesn't much like left overs. The female on the other hand is old now, and had damaged teeth when I got her. She has passed the chewing stage, but I still like her to have good chews to keep the teeth clean. She refuses many but is always happy with pigs ears, including these.Because I feed a chew every night, I appreciate the smaller size. These are reasonable portions for daily feeding, even the occasional twice a day when the dog cons me into it. I would not be happy feeding one or two whole pig ears per night on a regular basis as I suspect they are rather fattening, and they are a treat, not meant to make up a major portion of the dogs' diet. I wouldn't want to put my ultra fussy one off his meals further, nor would I want my senior dog to grow overweight. But if you only feed pig ears once or twice a month, you might find the large whole ears a nicer treat.I don't feed pig ear every night, but find it more economical to buy several types of treats in bulk and mix them in tubs. This also allows the dogs to have a sniff about and choose their own treats from a wide selection at times and these are often chosen over several other treats. These usually last a few months before they are all eaten, and I have had no problem keeping them in sealed tubs for months at a time.True, there are much nicer looking treats, but I question the processing to make them look nice, and the dogs might like to have much larger pieces, but these are good value for the price of them and ideal as frequent treats. I own Staffordshire Bull Terriers who have no problem munching through these. However, I found any chewie treat can be a problem with some dogs who wolf their food, if not used to something that requires chewing. If this is the case, or may be, such as with a new rescue dog, then supervise the first few feedings and be sure the dog is separated from other dogs as some will try to swallow treats whole before another can take it. I would note these are far less likely to cause choking than rawhide or many other chews though. Finally, you always end up with a few crumbs at the bottom of the bag to small to use as treats. I recommend mixing these in with the dogs dry food at night for a little variety, or sprinkling over tinned if you are lucky enough to own a dog that will eat tinned food.

Greasy
Have bought these before from this seller and was very satisfied with the product. My dog loves them, but I dont feed her them all the time as they are quite fattening.Every other time I have bought these, either from this seller or a shop, they have always looked the same. Mid brown and dry. However, this last lot were really very dark and greasy. They smelt alright and my dog went nuts on them, but they looked awful.Never seen anything like it before. Had to put a blanket on the carpet just so she could eat it.Would normally have poured them out into a treat bucket I have. Had to keep them in the bag, due to the grease dripping everywhere. This is why I have not given five stars. Has actually put me off buying them again. Have been told anyway by the vet to cut down, due to health uses anyway. In hindsite I should have sent them back, simply for the health reasons.May even throw them away.UPDATEThrew them out. Too late to send back. They went mouldy and most of the bag was wasted. Will never buy again.

Some pieces are quite small
I knew from the product description that these were not full ears, but I was a little disappointed at how many really small bits there were in the package. Although I still think the product is reasonable value for money (much cheaper than full ears) I probably will stick to buying full ears that I can cut in half. That way, I know exactly what I'm getting. But what there was was enjoyed by my dogs.

HARD, SHARP, PIECES?
WOULD HAD LIKED TO GAVE THIS 5 STARS BUT GAVE 2, BECAUSE I THOUGHT WOULD BE THE FULL SHAPES OF PIGS EARS, SOMETHING FOR MY DOG TO CHEW ON. BUT OPENED PLASTIC BAG DID SMELT OF PORK, BUT ARE IN SMALL BITS, ARE ROCK HARD, AND MOST PIECES ARE VERY SHARP EDGES ( JUST LIKE A SMALL PACKET OF PORK SCRATCHES FOR HUMANS ) MY DOG IS SMALL JACK RUSSELL AFAIR OLD AGE AND WITHOUT MANY TEETH LEFT, SO SHE'S FINDING VERY HARD TO EAT THESE PIECE'S OF PIGS EARS, AND I DON'T LEAVE MY DOG ALONE WHEN GIVING A PIECE OF THESE PIGS EARS AS SHE MAY JUST CHOCK ON THEM, THIS SHOWS THE PIECES ARE FAR TO SMALL. SO I WOULD SAY KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR PETS WHEN GIVING THEM A TREATS OF THESE PIECES OF PIGS EARS. I'M AFRAID WON'T BUY AGAIN PLUS DON'T THINK WORTH THE CASH. G.T

THE DOG NEXT DOOR SAID THANK YOU. SHE LIKES DARK BROWN AND LIKES A BIT OF GREASE.
I was disappointed with this product because the pieces of pigs ears were no where near the picture, which, as you can see are slices mainly. The bagful of greasy eardrums were nowhere near what I would give my dogs. The eardrums were dark brown, unappetising even for a dog. Both turned their noses up and walked away. The big Labrador in the next house to ours liked them so they were not wasted.Normally. both of my dogs can't get into the shopping bag quick enough when pigs ear treats are inside. Why are the pictures so attractive and bright and the product dark, greasy and ugly. I am not blaming the seller, he cannot see inside a sealed bag, but he should precheck what he is selling.

The dogs loves them but they STINK!
bought as a treat for the dog -hopefully that was obvious! :O She seems to enjoy them although she always turns her nose up at them at first. I think this is because they absolutely STINK. After it's been sat on the side for a bout 10mins she is more than happy to take it and bury it for safekeeping until she is ready to munch.
