Good quality
Good quality materials. I polished mine up to a nice shine and had a grand time making a mini stand/wall mount for it. Looks great and gives me a chuckle every time I see it.

Quality of replicas
It is a good conversation piece. A good gift for friends who has a social convention around Sendoku ( medieval ) period of Japan. Well made but a tad pricey.

quality is better than expected.
No loose fitting parts. Blade is pretty sharp and fits snuggly in the scabbard. Comes with a nice cloth cover.

It's well made, looks really cool, just not sure about the price.
This is an 8" replica Samurai Sword - it comes with a scabbard as well as a very nice cloth bag with a flap to secure it. This is packaged in a very nice box, so it will make a good-looking gift. It is made with steel and is remarkably heavy when you pick it up - it is a solid piece. The scabbard is well made, and the hilt is very detailed and firmly attached to the sword - it will not come off. The blade is not super sharp - although it is clearly solid steel so it could be sharpened if you wanted to. My youngest (18 yrs old) son makes anime/gundam (??) figurines. He decided to buy a figure in this scale and incorporate the sword and scabbard into the figure's pose. I think that will add a lot to the display. I'm not sure if the price is appropriate, however seeing what my son spends on the figures and such, it is pretty much in line with what those cost. You could use it as a letter opener as they suggest - I would see if there is a small display rack somewhere to hold it and then have on your desk. I think if you have an idea for where you would display it or use it in a model or diorama, it's an OK value. But it's definitely not a toy - it's essentially an 8" knife so don't get it for a young child.

Stunning quality replica miniature Japanese sword, actually sharp
This tiny Japanese sword letter opener is really charming, and surprisingly high-quality for the price you get. I was truly impressed with its craftsmanship and attention to detail with the real steel, ebony wood, and brass finery. It is absolutely delightful to use for opening letters since the blade is decently sharp. That said, it doesn't necessarily work perfectly as a letter opener and needs a bit of extra sharpening to be perfect. I am able to open letters with it by leveraging a specific spot on the center of the blade, but I wish this was a slightly smoother process. Still, this is overall an extremely impressive product at this price point and I would definitely recommend it to someone interested in a miniature - and actually sharp - sword. The sword is a 1/6 scale of a Japanese sword, and is a really fun aesthetic piece beyond its function. To me, the mountings on the scabbard suggest that this is a tachi rather than an uchigatana/katana. You can actually add a string through the mountings on the scabbard if you wanted to. I think this could be really fun for a 1/6 scale doll if desired. The hardware is unlacquered brass, and does require polishing to get it to be as shiny as the promotional photos. Mine arrived quite dull, which was disappointing at first. The makers include a polishing pad, but the rough side scratches the brass and it's hard to navigate the pad into the crevices. I do not recommend the polishing pad much since it can scratch the brass. It would be nice if the seller included a miniature display rack to go with the sword, but the included box and cloth pouch are sufficient for general storage. Overall this is an extremely impressive little letter opener that is beautiful, high-quality, and functional.

It's a nice little katana, but extremely small and very expensive for what it is.
This product delivers on what it promises to a degree. You get a mini katana that looks and feels kind of neat for a minuature sword. If you're looking for a higher quality decorative add on to a figurine or toy or you want a super unique letter opener, this will work. With that being said, the quality didn't exactly blow me away either. It's nice, but nothing ornate or anything super special. It's just a basic little semi sharp katana. The 1/6th size thing is also perhaps a tiny bit misleading as this is surely smaller than that. The blade being 5.5 inches is indeed about 1/6th the length of what can be classified as a katana (katanas typically have a blade length of around 31 to 39 inches so this would be 1/6th the size of a 33 inch blade so on the smaller end) but it's also light as a feather and nowhere near 1/6th the size of a real katana in terms of true mass. I'm not saying this is even a bad thing since it's clearly still to scale, I just want to accurately report that this is a REALLY small little katana so make sure you're expecting that. Overall it's a nice little item, but for the price I think it's a little more expensive than it should be. I like it but wouldn't rush back to buy more for the price.
