B5 Large Art Sketchbook for Drawing 120GSM - Softcover Travel/Home Notebook journal with Pocket & Thick Acid-Free Smooth Ivory Paper (7 x 10) - Lay Flat, Blank Sketch book for Light wet Media - ZenART

I have been a professional artist for more than 30 years and recently purchased ZenART Supplies’ sketchbook. This was not the first thing I've purchased from this online company and, as usual, I am more than impressed with the quality for the price. This sketchbook has a wonderfully textured PU Lether cover that is heavy enough to protect the pages within. The playful spots that dot the cover and the three exposed sides make the whole process of carrying and using the sketchbook even more fun. Now, we come to the most important part of a sketchbook, the paper. This paper is heavy, 120 gsm, and a light cream that did not affect my work at all. I made a sketch with graphite and loved the way the pencil slid across the smooth paper. It erased really well and I was able to draw and erase (with a rubber eraser) over and over with no damage to the paper. Then I tried a variety of Micron pens, a Prismacolor marker, Sharpies, gel pens and colored ink pens. While I had some bleed through with the Prismacolor marker, it was a brush style marker - I used the big end - and the color was Brick Red. I expected the saturation of ink would leave something behind. It doesn’t matter - everything else I tried worked fine. Including watercolor pencils. I sketched a simple idea of a vase and orchids and covered the paper with watercolor pencils. Then I used a wet, thirsty brush and created watercolor washes from them. The paper did not bleed through. The pages curled a little on the corners but I was able to gently turn them back down. This sketchbook comes with two ribbons to mark your place and a back envelope perfect to hold reference photos. In addition to the sketchbook, I've purchased ZenART Supplies’ bullet journal - that I absolutely love - their Oil/Acrylic brushes and their Infinity Oil Paints. I will keep coming back to ZenART Supplies for my art supply needs. They offer exceptional quality for a great value. Oh, and I like the fact that a portion of my purchase goes to Art in All of Us (AiA), a UNICEF partner whose focus is to bring art to children around the world in an effort for them to share their experiences and come to understand each other.

This is a great sketchbook! The B6 size is perfect as it's smaller than an A5 (5.5"×8.5") yet bigger than a typical pocket size (3.75" × 5.5"). This gives the handroom needed to get a good feel for the layout of the sketch. The paper is thick, a nice shade of light cream and smooth with a slight tooth for gripping medium. A light wash of color will give slight to moderate buckling. A moderate wash like what I've done in the attached pic will give noticable buckling but nothing to prevent one from utilizing the back ( if you don't mind a bit of ripple). There was no bleed through of the watercolor, fineliner or brush pen that I used on the Test page, but some faint shadowing. I love the textured cover, the back pocket and the elastic band as these details give a high-end craftsmanship feel! Overall I'm impressed and would love to purchase this again as well as try the larger size model. Great product for travel, journaling, thumbnailing and sketching! Kudos must be given to the cover - It's the Goldie Locks of covers; not too hard or too soft, giving great portability and durability. Top Pick in my book. Would highly recommend this sketchbook!

I am in love! The quality of this sketchbook is great! I actually love this product way better than my current sketchbook which is a more expensive brand (I wont name names) that I have been using for years. The cover is textured and a little sturdier than other soft cover sketchbooks, but still bendable. It has a elastic strap to hold it closed when not in use, which none of my other sketchbooks have so that is really nice. I love the size, large enough to do good sized sketches but small enough to take on the go. It is a nice "squattier" shape, other sketchbooks are thinner and taller which I find awkward to work with. The pages a little thicker than most and smooth to the touch. They hold up to using inks and light watercolor great. If you use a bit of water it might bleed though, but for the most part they hold up. They lay completely flat and the spine can take some abuse bending the pages to lay flat. I don't think anything is going to fall apart any time soon. As I said at the beginning, this is a quality sketchbook!

I have a huge collection of different sketchbooks from several brands and was iffy about purchasing some online. First of all, the exterior and feel of the cover is great including the elastic band. I like small sketchbooks since I'm always at work and its easier to have in my purse. As for the quality of the paper, its smooth, feels a bit glossy, and no rough edges. I tested out (Uni Nano Dia HB lead) mechanical pencils, (Staedtler Mars Lumograph) regular lead pencils, (Pilot FriXion) gel pens, and (Copic Multiliner) ink pens. The mechanical pencil didn't work out great, felt the glossy surface not being to handle it; regular pencils worked great, glided well on the surface of the paper and easier to do smudge or shadows; gel pens are a big no-no, didn't dry fast; ink pens worked excellent, absorbs the ink well and doesn't bleed through or smudge. I will use this sketchbook for regular lead pencils with ink pens considering the paper does well with them. This is a good sketchbook for those who work with ink pens.

Förutom att förpackningen var skadad vilket hade både smutsat ner och fuktskadat boken hade alla sidor i boken veck och böjmärken.

Format idéal en ce qui me concerne, jolie présentation et fabrication de bonne qualité semble-t-il (sous réserve d'un usage intensif sur la durée que je ne peux pas encore évaluer). Mais le papier est très lisse, voire brillant, ce qui le rend impropre à la pratique du pastel sec, du fusain et de la sanguine et rend difficile la mise en aquarelle des croquis. Supporte bien le dessin à la plume. Très bien en revanche pour les crayons à la cire. Mais ça n'est pas ma technique de prédilection.

Primero me asusté! El gramaje es bastante más fino y satinado de lo que estoy acostumbrada a usar, así que casi me da un parraque después de gastarme ese dinero en una marca que desconocía. Compré este cuaderno porque mi cuaderno favorito es muy incómodo de llevar de arriba a abajo en la mochila. Después del susto inicial y una sensación ligera de decepción porque soy muy neurótica y fetichista con el papel, decidí darle una oportunidad y probarlo... Wow! Me ha encantado! He de decir que la forma en que acepta la acuarela es incluso mejor que la de mi cuaderno favorito y se abomba por la humedad bastante menos de lo que me esperaba con ese gramaje tan fino! Además de lo bueno que ha salido, es muy bonito. Enamorada!

Che bello! cosa posso dire di più. La copertina è elegante di un cartoncino spesso e robusto dalla finitura ruvida che lascia una piacevole sensazione. La carta è di buona qualità, non bianca ma di una tinta avorio chiaro, che per i bozzetti a mio parere è l'ideale. Ci sono due fettucce da usare come segna pagina ed una tasca nel retro copertina, utile per contenere un piccolo righello flessibile o qualche biglietto da visita. Completa il tutto il classico nastro elastico che fascia il quaderno. Il Formato B5 è la chiave per un prodotto comodo da usare e facile da trasportare in una valigetta o uno zaino. Io adotto questo formato da anni per mostrare i bozzetti e illustrazioni; Ve lo consiglio è impagabile.
