Anchor Hocking Wine Carafe, Glass, 1/2-Liter

I was very impressed with this Anchor Hocking Wine Carafe, although not perhaps for the reasons that I would have expected. As a carafe it's just the right size to decant a half bottle of wine for dinner. But it's also very solid. Amazon, in the infinite wisdom of its packaging department, had packaged this carafe, without any protection other than some bubble wrap, loose in the same big box with twenty-four cans of soup weighing about thirty pounds. The soup arrived with a few dented cans, but the carafe, amazingly, arrived in one piece. I am sure it had several opportunities to shatter and break in transit. This is not a light weight piece of glass, it's solid and likely to survive the occasional hard knock in your kitchen. RECOMMENDED.

only bummer is that it'd be nice to have a little pour spout to more easily direct the wine flow. a little challenging after you've filled this thing up a couple times. which is the other problem is that its too small for an entire bottle of wine. you have to pour 2 glasses then the rest in here. does a good job of aerating though

Yaye for made in the USA! I love Anchor Hocking products -- and this is a nice heavy duty product that is exactly what I was looking for! Unlike the smaller carafes that I bought at the same time, this arrived in one piece and was packaged well for its journey! A great value and it was hard to find locally...

Good, basic decanter with some "house wine" style like you would find in a cozy, hole in the wall restaurant. Not for your best wines, but for an every day bottle, this is a great, casual decanter.

It's what it's supposed to be. Nice and heavy.

Searched locally for a 1/2 carafe and didn't find anything, most of what I found were full carafe's that were delicate and expensive. This was exactly what I wanted, sturdy, functional.
