The Starlight Witch (Witches of New York Book 1)

I'm not sure how, but this book is exactly what I needed! It's witty, funny, suspenseful, with a hint of romance. It's like Only Murders In The Building meets the paranormal world! The found family is epic & it's all around fun!

I liked that the FMC was over 18 and had life experience and self confidence at 41. I liked the fun twist of living in a hotel with all your friends. I loved how witty she is. We need some more Valen though! This series is a fun read with some surprising turns and some entertaining memorable characters.

I want to say I enjoyed this book, and I did, hence the five stars. However, there were just a few things that irritated me. Mainly that Leana focuses so solely on one suspect for most of the book that it drove me crazy! I just don't get someone who worked ten years in her profession, being so mediocre and making rookie mistakes. Also, her "friends" behavior sometimes pissed me off. At one point, she almost dies from a demon attack that was rather gruesome, yet instead of being concerned, these grown a$$ adults couldn't help giggling because she ended up naked!?!? Ummm, yeah, maturity level check there author. And of course each time she tells them there is something she should or shouldn't do and they don't agree, she caves....like come on and they don't apologize or say "maybe we should have listened," Im just irratated with their personalities i guess. But aside from little things like that, it was a great story with a great plot. I did think the antagonist reasons for all the trouble they caused were slightly unbelievable, but I guess if you spin it as they were unhinged, it mollifies me a bit. Anwho, on to the next in the series.

This was a fun, lighthearted story of witches, weres and vampires (primarily witches) and all things paranormal. I don’t think I’d ever reread this book, ti be completely honest however it was good enough we’re I am curious to finish the rest of the series.Leana is a unique type of witch. When she comes home early one day, she finds her husband in bed with another woman, finally giving her the perfect excuse to end her marriage. She follows up on a job offer from a hotel and is hired immediately to help solve the mystery of a couple deaths. This story follows Leana solving this case and making true friends and meeting a new potential guy along the way.This was a cute, light read. The perfect palette cleaner for my normal reads. I’d recommend this book to anyone looking for something of the sorts. Tho I probably will never reread it as I said earlier, I did enjoy the story. There were some corny parts, parts that had me chuckling and honestly a couple twists I never saw coming. Overall, this was a good story and I will at some point continue with the series.

After losing her husband, our secret witch finds herself living in a magical hotel with a group of fun, crazy characters... and several dead bodies. As a magical detective with special powers, the hotel hires her to find out who is killing these people. All of the characters are enjoyable to read about, and the ending was, in my opinion; very satisfying. I'm looking forward to reading the next book!

It's a challenge at times to find a fantasy story that has a unique twist. This one did. Well done

I really enjoyed reading. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series. It was good mystery, funny and sexy.

A young potion master with a taste for female company, a Witch that dresses up like an 80s pop princess, and the cursed wooden toy dog that holds the soul of a man. This is just a snippet of who you will come across.Then there are the 13 floors of The Twilight Hotel, its guests & permanent residents. A melting pot of ideas that will hopefully take you on that wonderful journey.
