Perfect for the job in hand.
Keep a 6 metre boat with two 50HP engines on a trailer in a corner of the garden over the winter, it is on a slight slope and access by car is very limited. At the start of the new season manually pulling the boat out is proving difficult as I get older, however it is really simple with this winch. I just park my car at the top of the slight incline, attach this winch to the car tow bar using the supplied adapter plate and wire it to a spare 12 volt car battery. Hey presto it pulls the boat out without issue, it will only be used a couple of times a year but for the price it is hard to beat.

Seems to work exactly as it should
Purchased to pull my 15' open sailer on to the back of the car up a ramp if necessary. Unfortunately the bolts to fit the tow hitch bracket were not included, which was disappointing, but otherwise the unit seems to work well and very easily. I have tested it extensively at home and can't fault it. It will be used next week in anger for the first time, but no reason to assume any issues. Great unit, especially at the price.

Be really careful to ensure the cable is straight during operation
You've got to be REALLY careful to keep the cable straight as it winds/unwinds, otherwise the cable will lodge itself between the casing and the pressure plate. I've done this twice - the first time, the pressure plate broke. The second time, it got stuck and is impossible to un-lodge. In saying that, for the price it does it's job well so I've just ordered my third one.

Electrical fault - Awful after-sales service
The winch didn't work when I received it. It had an electrical connection fault, also reported in a review in Jan 2024. It was not checked before being sent or the fault would have been found. By twisting and turning the plug that pushes into the winch it would operate but once released, it stopped. I checked the cable and it was fine, it was an internal fault. Therefore, I cannot say whether it would have done the job or not. I bought it to winch a heavy mobility scooter on/off a trailer, using ramps. iShop247 demonstrated the worst after-sales service I have experienced. I was told they would pay up to £4.60 return postage. You can get it at that price up to 10kg. The winch's gross weight is 10.2kg which is printed on the box so no chance of porkies. It would cost £8 or more to drop-off, more to collect. Any extra cost was mine to bear, they said, even though they sent me unchecked junk (technical term for non-operational machine). Amazon then issued a return label and I dropped it off using the mobility scooter. 10.2kg is hard to carry when in a box with no handles, especially when walking is challenging. iShop247 said, refund 'in due course' but only when I asked where the refund was. After 8 days from it being delivered back, there was still no refund so I asked Amazon for it and they issued the refund, not iShop247. So beware and if you do order from iShop247, hope it works or is 10kg max gross weight.

Great winch but quality suspect
A great looking useful winch. Sadly on its first use the 12 volt connections were loose/broken preventing a constant electrical connection. Winch was returned for refund

Toolzone 12V Electric Boat Winch
The winch performs exactly as specified and in fact might pull more than the weight specified. I use it to pull a boat (Orkney type) and trailer up a steep jetty. It is slow - but a lot better than ending up with the car in the sea. The instructions don't appear to show you how to let out the cable, but it's easy to work out (slacken off the knob under the winding handle), then when the cable is out to the correct length, tighten up the knob and start winching.

Good value.
Still trying to fix it down somewhere safely so I can winch my wheelchair into my van without my chair falling off the side of the ramps, (my fault not the winch).
