Turning Funky Dungeons Into Dry Kingdoms
You ever walk into your basement and feel like you just hit a wall of sticky air? That’s where I was — mildew smell punching me in the face, damp air clinging to my skin. Then the BaseAire unit rolled in like it owned the place. Small enough to squeeze into crawl spaces but built like a little tank, this thing showed up ready to throw hands with humidity — and it won.Setup was laughably easy. I slapped it down, hooked up the drain hose, punched a couple buttons on the clean, no-nonsense control panel, and boom — working. Auto on/off? Check. Memory restart after a blackout? Yup. I didn’t have to babysit it, which is great ‘cause the last thing I need is another thing whining for attention. Gravity drainage worked perfect for me, but if you got a more complicated setup, it can still handle business with a pump assist.Cold snap hit? No worries. Auto defrost popped on without a stutter. No frozen coils, no breakdowns — it just quietly kept pulling gallons of water out of the air like it was on a mission. And for real, this thing doesn’t scream for attention with flashing lights or crazy colors — it’s got that tough, don’t-mess-with-me look, but still clean enough you wouldn’t feel embarrassed if company saw it.Before this, my basement smelled like wet dog and old sneakers. Now it’s bone dry, breathable, and not a mold jungle anymore. If your space feels like the inside of a gym bag left out in the rain, this unit’s the muscle you need to shut that down quick.

Crawl Space Is Now Fresh and Dry
I purchased the Airwerx55 to replace a Frigidaire unit that was crap. My 600 square foot concrete floor crawl space is 30' by 20' by 5.5' tall. That is roughly 3000 cubic feet. Not a really large space but it was humid and very musty smelling. I started out at 66% humidity on a Wednesday and by Saturday it was down to 38%. I purchased the remote control unit that the company Baseaire offers for an additional $100.00. I recommend also getting the remote as it will make your life easier. I do not have to go down in the crawl space just to check the humidity. The build quality of the Airwerx55 is by today's standards exceptional. It is compact but it looks industrial. You have the option of adding a duct to the discharge if you wish. It is Energy Star rated which is important. I purchased it mainly because it will function well even when my crawl space gets colder in the winter, as the space is insulated but un-heated. The unit has the capacity to keep humidity levels low in anticipation of temperature drops that would ordinarily raise the relative humidity. Again, It is a quality built unit that I am glad I took the time to research and purchase.

Works well
Really happy I got this because we had a leak from our tub. When we accessed the pipes there was water everywhere and I was worried about the potential for mold and mildew but I’m feeling fairly confident with having run this machine, we should be good.

Great for damp areas
This was very easy to carry this in not like your cheap department store dehumidifier, this is a professional grade dehumidifier that has the ability to be controlled by either a cat5 cable system or 6 screw system like older HVAC units. While this works wonders for the dampness of my crawlspace, I could see this being used in a house or storage unit as well to keep things from molding. The defrost unit means it’ll suck the water out of the air in even the dampest of areas or if the temperature drops it keeps on going after melting off for a bit. The handles really help and it’s able to get into some small places. The filter seems to be of a better quality than the cheaper units also. I actually got this for a friend who was flooded recently and it’s been a godsend for drying out her damp floors and walls as well as for my basement.

Wow
What a job this unit is doing in my damp 2 car garage. I keep 6 mint motorcycles and a classic in a home I recently moved into. For several months I’ve been worrying about the chrome pitting on my motorcycles and a typical home unit even though was rated at 1200 feet was not getting the job done. Before sending my bikes and car off to a very expensive car storage facility I decided to give a better unit a chance. Although not inexpensive it costs the same as about a week in the storage facility. I eagerly unpacked my Amazon package at 6pm one night 3 weeks ago plugged it in, saw the humidity the garage was 78, set the unit at 50 and went upstairs for a few minutes and the unit was already working as water was slowly flowing out of the hose and under the garage door. 4 hours later the unit read 50. A few weeks later the unit is now set to 55 and the unit kicks on only when it has to. It will be off and as soon as I open the garage door on a humid day, it reads the humidity and it immediately kicks on. If I had any complaints it would be that it’s a bit loud and that’s if you happen to be in the garage and it vents dusty air. I’d rather have a little dust on my rides than moisture any day. Could not be happier.

Poor quality control.
Install unit in crawl space and plugged in unit gave one beep and did nothing. Display did not come on. Took unit cover apart to find ribbon cable not connected. Plugged in and unit started Working then noticed drain connection was broke repaired that. Poor quality control on this unit.
