The Overlocker Technique Manual: The complete guide to serging and decorative stitching

I was quite relieved to find this book on Amazon because I have just bought my first overlocker and know nothing whatever about these machines. This book seems to cover everything you could ever want to ask about. Very good price as well and a very nice glossy book.

This book contains a lot of useful information - much more so than the basic user manual which was supplied with my machine. Well worth purchasing, in my opinion.

It is comprehensive but easy to understand. Reading in conjunction with the machine manual makes a daunting machine manageable. Really gives an insight into the world of interlockers.

I bought an overlocker about twelve years ago and only used it for one project, finding it a bit terrifying and complicated. Recently, I brought it down from the top of the wardrobe, very dusty, and I decided to have another go. I had bought Nancy Zieman's book at the beginning to help with the very sparse manual but it wasn't as technical as I had wished and I floundered before putting the machine away so long ago. But this book has a good section on the technical aspects, helping me to understand the overlocker's manual, and a great section on the possibilities of the machine and understanding tension adjustment, etc. As a bonus, there are simple projects at the back to have a go with, whether you keep them for yourself or give to charity. This is an excellent book to develop overlocking skills.

I wouldn’t have gotten very far with my new overlocker if it wasn’t for this book. Easy to read and good diagrams/photographs. I look forward to advancing my skills using this manual.

This is the second time I’ve bought this book as I could find my copy bought several years ago. I don’t use the overlocker as much as I could but it’s essential for me in threading my overlocker. The instructions in the guide book for my machine are useless. Last year, I sorted out the tension on my daughter’s friend’s overlocker using this book. It’s a great basic guide and I wish I’d seen it before I bought my overlocker. I would have bought one with more functions. Never mind it’s a great little book for beginners.

Well designed and very informative book. The explanations are clear, following step by step methods, with illustrations. would recommend this book for anyone, like me, just starting out using an overlocker sewing machine.

Das war natürlich kostenlos.Dieses Buch ist sicher für jeden Anfänger eine Hilfe, aber die Bewertungen bisher stammen von Amazon.com.Man nehme es mir nicht übel, aber bei einer guten Overlock-Maschine liegt sowie ein Handbuch bei was eigentlich ausreicht.Die echten Kniffe von Anwender/innen finden sich dann tatsächlich bei den kostenlosen YT Tutorials.Bevor man (frau) allerdings so weit ist, hat man das Maschinen nach 5x Neueinfädeln (halb so wild) und einem Nadelbruch ohnehin gut genug studiert und verflucht :-) und danach hilft die Erfahrung mit der eigenen Maschine mehr als jedes Buch.Ich habe mir übrigens die 'billige' Toyota hier bei Amazon gekauft und top zufrieden damit.

Lots of very helpful photos. Information is clearly and logically presented. Text is well-written without a lot of faff. Also really helpful descriptions and pictures of other items and accessories you might want to accompany your overlocker/serger.I didn't really care much for the projects at the end, but the author has included sound reasons for them - i.e. what techniques you'll be practising by making them, so you can just take what you need from the projects if you don't like the item itself.I really like this book. I'd recommend it to any newcomer to overlocking/serging, and it's certainly increased my confidence!This book is also available as "Serger Techniques Manual", re-titled for the American market. I don't have that edition but I'm sure the core information is the same.
